I like to use thin two layer acrylic. Then I stick it to my larger projects. I only use my web store url and my logo. A larger piece of the two layer acrylic would do this easily.

I made pockets for slips of card stock with the code printed on them (no problem with contrast). This way I can update the code if necessary and not waste the wood. Alternatively, I guess you could glue new codes over the original, if necessary.
