Leslie: This was such an easy pattern to make. I started chemo and will be needing it soon. It fits well-leaves some room on top so it doesn't look tight all over. Thank you.

Making it for someone who is undergoing chemo, I would recommend that you make a lining to so it is soft against there head, thereby you would only have one seam exposed the bottom cuff.
@cindycloward35455 жыл бұрын
Having a lining is not a bad idea, but I actually created this tutorial because of my friend's daughter who is undergoing cancer treatment. Her daughter wears these knit hats often when she is not wearing her wig (I made several). She says that the hat is comfortable as is, and has no complaints about the seems not being soft on her bald head.

That's good to know. Years ago I heard to make it double so there are no exposed seams. Maybe not everyone is so sensitive

Thank you so much for such an easy-to-follow tutorial and patterns! The beanie also did not take much fabric, which is great. I made two beanies, one large and one medium. The large one was big enough. So I tried the medium one and that came out too small. It looked like something for the size of a toddler. Do you have a pattern with the size between the large and the medium?

Thank you. You make it look so easy I’m going to try this project for my twin 4yr old grandsons. I was lucky enough to have an Evole Babylock machine given to me for my Christmas present from my husband. I have yet to try the cover stitch part I’m still trying to master the serger part ! My question is on the differential feed part.... when sewing with fleece what setting should I use as it often stretches

When you folded for the cuff, you had the raw edge and then the fold. Did you cut off both the raw edge AND the fold with the knife, or sew it like a blind hem?
@RileyBlakeDesigns5 жыл бұрын
Great question! Cindy left the knife up when she sewed the fold. You could also put the knife down and sew it like a blind hem.

I know there are directions. Try searching sewing chemo hats without exposed seams. Many years ago a lady was making them to donate. Seams would irritate some peope undergoing chemo.

Does anyone have a good source of pretty polyknit fabrics? I was thinking a could make a nordic hat like the Skida brand
@knittingknut4 жыл бұрын
Nice video but it always amazes me that people demonstrate cutting without any discussion of placing the pattern to preserve as much left over fabric as possible. It’s kind of wasteful because fabric scraps, if large enough can be used for other projects.
