Plastic straws are banned in my location and cannot be found anywhere. What is the modern solution for this?

@@Science.Buddies no I tried with the paper straws and then just bend and crease and don't snap back to their original form the way your plastic straws do. It was a big let down for my son and I

There are transparent plant-based straws that have a much more "plastic-y" feel than paper straws and may work better. Another more complicated option would be to use small springs or rubber bands glued to the outside of the joints to help pull them back to their original position.
