Make a Sturdy Fabric Cover with any Printable Design | Easy Travel Journal Tutorial

In this video I (Tinne) will teach you how to make an easy junk journal/notebook with a very sturdy cover with our Travel Journal kit.
I will also teach you how you can make that sturdy cover with any printable design that you like and how I like to print my journal pages.
This tutorial can be completely adapted to your own size/tast/etc.
It's a project that can be applied with al sorts of designs, so of course you can use other papers to make this craft project as well.
And you can use these "Travel Journal" printables for an infinite amount of other crafts as well, like many of our other tutorials.

TOOLS & MATERIALS USED
✂ journal pages print on 120gsm paper (about 44lb cover) or other papers
✂ paper for inner cover print on 160gsm paper (about 60lb cover)
✂ thin cardboard (the cereal box type)
✂ scissors and/or paper trimmer
✂ wet glue (I use Collall tacky glue)
✂ ink & ink blender (I used amzn.to/3RaDP8w) (optional)
✂ pencil
✂ ruler
✂ awl or hole punch
✂ (embroidery or wax or other) thread + needle
✂ iron-on fabric transfer sheet (+iron)
Optional:
✂ silicon brush (or alternative to spread out glue) (mine is from W R Memory Keepers)
✂ bone folder

I just found out something playing with my printer to try and get the whole picture when it was not designed to fit that size. Go under your options, advanced or more options, whatever your printer calls this and look for borderless printing! Mine has this option but you have to turn it on every time you want to use it as it reverts back to 11X 8 1/2. Then check portrait or landscape to see which one comes out looking the best. This May not work on all resizing but it does give you option at least to try and see if you can't print the whole thing.

Just interested to know - do you have to seal printed covers with anything to stop them flaking off?

@@kelliroditis4948 not so far, I could seal but it is just like buying printed fabric. It comes out almost 99% dry basically. I think I could use a fabric decoupage or one of the matte gels but so far they are great. I have not gotten any spills on them so I could not say how well they do if water got all over them but glue hasn't smeared the ink. I use the 11x17 tray on my HP and spray the fabric then adhere to the 11x17 paper and run it through. Hope you give it a try; opens up so many options 😊

Great tip for printing. Fabri-Tac does not wrinkle fabric or paper. Very nice travel journal. =^^=

Honestly, no idea. I'm keeping a close eye on the ones I made. I don't expect it to flake/peel (but you never know). The edges are wrapped all round and secured. But time will tell!

I like this tutorial and papers. I am so used to seeing you use double sided tape for gluing covers. Can you explain why you chose glue this time? I am enjoying your video, always inspired by you.

I choose glue because it's more cooperating for a cover that needs to bend. Tape is too sturdy and not cooperating with me as well in these types of crafts.
