UPDATE: If you experience issues opening MultiWii on your Windows 10 or higher PC, it's because you do not have Java installed which MultiWii runs on. You're going to need to install Java 8u202 or earlier and edit your windows "path" data to point to that build, in order to use the MultiWiiConfig. Also, if you like Arduino FPV projects like this drone, you'll like my FPV Head-tracking Camera - kzbin.info/www/bejne/iqaTlJSva7hojas

This really shows how far drones have come, not only in consumer drones, but also the building process for fpv drones. The ability to solder components to a aio board, screw them to a frame, and spend 20 minutes in betaflight to create a whoop seems so easy compared to what it actually takes to build from scratch. Unbelievable work. Also I love how close it is in looks and design to a 5in, even including the wide frame and top mounted battery

13:58 I don't understand exactly what the problem was in this part. Was the gyroscope affected by EMF?
@MaxImagination
@MaxImagination 4 ай бұрын
The problem was caused by the induced EMI from the motors into the motor driver, causing the Arduino to reset and to interfere with the gyro. You can avoid this with either a sheet of Aluminum or copper. Aluminum foil will work fine.

This is such an exciting project! Making a tiny Arduino drone with an FPV camera is a fantastic way to dive into electronics, programming, and even a bit of aerodynamics. My child got a head start in these areas with Moonpreneur, where they learned to build projects from scratch and develop skills in STEM. Watching this video feels like an extension of that journey, showing the endless possibilities when kids learn to work with tech like Arduino. It’s so inspiring to see hands-on projects like this that make learning engaging and fun.

I set up the controller on a breadboard to test the gyro and transmission through the MultiWii application and all seems to be working well except the yaw. In the application, the quadcopter is shifting its yaw direction by 1 degree every second or so and I have no idea why. I had also calibrated the accelerometer and yields the same result.
@MaxImagination
@MaxImagination Ай бұрын
I have also faced this thing, but it shouldn't affect the actual flight once in motion. I believe this happens due to a bit of electrical noise that the MPU6050 is experiencing which may be causing this drift. I may be wrong, but it would be worth testing if adding a capacitor filters this out or adding that copper/aluminum sheet to block out the EMI from the motor driver board. If this doesn't help, then it may be a defect in all those MPU boards.

I made that using arduino rf nano and geard coreless motors.maybe i have to add magnetometer to it. Sorry for my weak English.thank you.
@MaxImagination
@MaxImagination Ай бұрын
No problem :) You can counter this problem with the drone rotating because of 2 diagonal propellers turning slower by adjusting the rate gain value (you can see how to do this in the later part of my video). It should help smoothen out this effect. Another thing to check is that your mosfets are not overheating and are outputting the expected voltage between 3.7-4.1V to the motors.

you can not even imagine how much you helped me by creating this video butt it would be veryyyyy veryyyyyyyyyyy helpful if you made the motor driver part a little bit more clear with better instructions........ or just made a dedicated pcb for the motor driver that we could order from online such as from JLC PCB or PCB WAY...... that would have been veryyy veryy helpful as making the motor driver by hand would be veryy challenging and difficult for someone like me........ and also the fpv camera that you gave link to says it is unavailable and I can not find it from any other website that is available in my region.......Can you pleasee give me some suggesion on what I can do ?? and again THANK YOU VERYY MUCHHH....... veryyy good content......keep going.....I am always with you....

Thanks for your feedback and support!. To further help someone like you, I may include some close-up images of the motor driver in the project files folder soon. Keep your eyes peeled for that. Also, keep in mind that there's a circuit diagram showing how the motor driver is wired, making it easier to follow along to the tutorial. The FPV camera I ordered for this project is currently out of stock, I'm not in control of that. Maybe give it some time and the sellers may restock it. I may also look for a suitable alternative out there to link. Cheers!

This is so cool. I love this. I'm a SriLankan. I'm 13 years old. I'm a student. I love working with Arduino ... I tried so much times to make this mini drone...But I can't make the transmitter because i don't have a 3D printer ...My parents are helping me so much but we can't afford a 3D printer. and i tried to make the transmitter case with cardboard, but it doesn't work. also I can't find some materials .I almost gave up on this project .

How to send battery voltage from rx to tx? It would be better to know when to replace the drone's battery, right?
@MaxImagination
@MaxImagination 6 ай бұрын
To monitor the battery's voltage, you need to wire an analog pin from its Arduino board to the + wire on the battery and uncomment several lines of code in the program to activate voltage monitoring. It will then warn you through the buzzer when it's going low.

This is as easy while cheap as it can get. To make it easier to assemble, use a PCB with tinier (SMD) components. However, it may not be cheap.

Thank you! The grounded copper plate I added blocked the EMI from the motor drivers (transistors) from affecting the Arduino and Gyro. I suggest you implement this.

The great thing about arduino is that you only really need the chip itself. It doesn’t really need many passive components. You could order a custom PCB with all the required components and a solid copper layer at the bottom as a ground plane, acting as a built-in shield. You can make the main board as thin and light as you want, even flexible! Give it a try.
@AVI-xo1kb
@AVI-xo1kb 8 ай бұрын
but that again raises the difficulty of diy, he prolly wanted to make it simple so that anyone can try.
@PunakiviAddikti
@PunakiviAddikti 8 ай бұрын
@@AVI-xo1kb You'd think that, but designing your own PCB is easy to learn. Your computer does all the heavy lifting and if you wish, you can try autorouting. That means the software connects everything for you. Then just upload all the files and order your new PCB's for cheap, and I mean cheap. Depending on the size and complexity, you can get 10 PCBs for as cheap as 5 bucks. But there is a caveat. Soldering SMD chip packages can be very challenging. You can also order complete PCB's but that'll cost you parts+extra.
@AVI-xo1kb
@AVI-xo1kb 8 ай бұрын
@@PunakiviAddikti that is the point IK pcb designing is easy you can do it yourself after a bunch of tutorials as I am learning pcb designing but pcb isn't as cheap as you think depending on the location it will raise the project cost significantly for example at my location if I do this project the cost of pcb simply outweighs the pros and joy of doing this project and again if you are near fab it's cheap but if you are far away then you will notice the difference
@MaxImagination
@MaxImagination 8 ай бұрын
Making it modular allows for others to recreate the drone with more ease. Using PCBs cuts out most makers already, especially those who are beginners or who won't bother ordering an additional PCB alongside the components.
