Unfortunately this tutorial doesn't work very well with the new way Godot is set up. Having a lot of trouble finding the corresponding settings in the new tile editor.

Unity is a powerful engine, although clunky with 2D. For an indie/hobby developer though. I would advise Godot over anything else :) :gdcbonsai:

Hey, I'm doing an assessment and I've switch to using your tutorial its much higher quality, better instructions and just all around a clearer experience but I'm facing a problem I have to use Godot 4 I can't use 3 do you have any updated. versions?
@GameDevelopmentCenter Жыл бұрын
No, I do not, and I regretfully never got to finish this series itself as I started a studio myself and have to prioritize on that for the moment. I have plans to redo and complete this series in Godot 4 in the relatively near future. Regretfully, that won't help you now in the present.

Hi, I have an issue with the tileset and after drawing the Bitmask and all, the autotile is not working as yours is. Is there a chance you know why or can upload the file for me? Edit: This fixed itself by restarting Godot, not the first time such a thing happens to me lol!
@GameDevelopmentCenter2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I get such weirdness from time to time as well. Annoying, but considering how fast Godot starts, not to much of an issue compared to other engines ^^

Just started your tutorials cause i am switching from business software developer to indie game developer, and i have to say it stresses me out the fact that you are 50% 10:35 for example in this video and you haven't yet saved the Map1 tilemap scene [unsaved] when at any given moment we can loose our progress :) i am a ctrl+S kind of a devloper per every single line of code or action i do and i cant do that now yet because i dont know how you will save that scene :/ lol..... my OCD is going crazy :D
@GameDevelopmentCenter2 жыл бұрын
Hahaha, usually I already got the project coded out before re-doing it while recording. So I don't loose a thing. Sorry to trigger your OCD :P

@@GameDevelopmentCenter hehe, btw in future videos kindly try to click the buttons or whatever in the Godot a bit slower, your mouse is moving to fast and windows are popping up to fast and i have to go back and slow down the speed and pause the video to see where exactly did you go. Remember most of us we are using dual monitors or more. on the one is your video playing and on our main the dev Enviroment working on this so it takes a lot of pauses, but if you try to slow down a bit the paste , just a bit, then would be much easier to follow. :) thanks a lot again for your tutorials! I hope you are planing to make more. (i wonder if ARPG or RTS the hardest type of games to build) are possible in Godot engine :/

Challenging to follow with the new autotile system in Godot 4, but I kind of enjoyed the extra challenge.
@GameDevelopmentCenter9 ай бұрын
Yeah, system has gone through a lot of changes. I reshot the tutorial for 4.1.3, but with 4.2 they changed the filesystem again. So ..... reshooting again :)

How does this translate into the new TileMapLayer in 4.3? Theres not an option for adjusting the cell size and creating a tileMap gives a depreciation error.
@GameDevelopmentCenter24 күн бұрын
Not well, the tilemap system has been completely revamped in Godot 4.0, and has had additional changes in 4.3 and will get changed again in 4.4

@GameDevelopmentCenter3 жыл бұрын
For 8bits the screen size tends to be smaller, but ultimately you build for your target audience/device/platform. I'm personally not a pixel/bit dev. So I'm not the one to give advice on screen size here. I'm sure you will find someone who can help in the Godot Discord :)
