If adultery was not decriminalized by SC , Most probably Jyoti Maurya's husband was able to save his family. Adultery law is very important for saving the institution of marriage . Though adultery is unethical and should not be encouraged. But criminalzing it wont be right. If someone is getting in this stuff that means they are not happy with thier current marriage (there can be various factor) so adultery should be used as ground for divorce.

Adultery should also be counted when a person gets married on false pretence of not having any physical relationship. Those lying about their physical relationship to get married should also be treated as a criminal. Marriage is a traditional thing. It is good to see the government putting effort to preserve it from the rotten Western influence.

I feel it should be decriminalised. Because its very difficult to prove. Many times it is used against a person for threatening and to extra money. If adultery is proved then if the couple wants, they should be given divorce. Since they are adults and adultery has happened after consent of both man and woman.

The problem is not that spouse having extra marital affairs but the problem is even after divorce his/her innocent spouse have to pay alimony and child maintenance to him/her , it should be stopped .
