Do you need a last minute quilt or gift? This quilt project can easily be completed in a weekend! You can make this quilt quickly using a layer cake (10" squares) and charm packs (5" squares), or you can go for cheap by grabbing fabric from your scrap bins. All the details and supplies needed, plus tips on using a plush throw as backing, can be found in our blog post.
New to quilting and need a super beginner project? This is the perfect first quilt project for those just starting out. With minimal cutting and seams, it can be quilted by any skill level. It's also a great quilt project for kids.

A little tip to help with the "fuzzies" when you cut plush fabric is to get some Press and Seal (near the plastic wrap in your grocery store). But a skinny strip on top of the plush fabric and cut with your rotary cutter or scissors. Peel off the Press and Seal and it captures a vast majority of your fuzzies. 😁

Absolutely. Just be careful to lay the top on as evenly as possible.

How do you sew the backing on without it stretching.

Make sure you have basted it well and utilize your tabletop to hold the weight of the fabric as you are quilting it so it doesn't pull as you go. If you have a smaller sewing table, I like to move my sewing machine to the dining table when quilting to give me more room. Also, some plush blankets are stretchier than others. The one I used didn't stretch much. I'd try to find one with less stretch.
