I appreciate (and I know others do too) your mentioning to not leave that in the woods. It is obvious how easy it would be for an animal to become ensnared in all the loops it creates. One could probably forage and find enough bottles left by others without bringing more in.

I saw another video where the person lashed two sticks together with this cordage, then held it over a fire. The plastic tightened up just like heat-shrink tubbing and it became super strong. I suppose that would work for many situations where you wanted a very strong lashing like making a bow or holding a spearhead onto the end of a stick.
@victorcastle18406 жыл бұрын
Carl S. Lars of (Survival Russia.com )youtube , did that but on a badly cracked handle on a heavy axe/splitting type . When he heated up and shrunk it some you could see the crack close up.

recently made a jig like yours but with a box cutter blade, took a bit of tweaking but it works good now. I use the cordage to make new grips for my tools , wrapping it around the handles and setting it with a heat gun , can be done with a lighter or over a fire. heating it causes it to shrink .

Too right. I watched some guys vid and he admitted it took all day to get a fire going from a fire drill/bow thingy.
@CavemanCody8 жыл бұрын
+Bush Camping Tools I have used the bowdrill extensively. even in a semi wet and marshy location on my property. I usually can have a fire going with one within a hour or two. and that's just the time it takes to make it from scratch. If I have the set made already. it don't take me but a minute or two and I have a coal and 30 sec to another minute to blow it into flame. This is the usual and most common time frame.

Note: keep your blade very sharp. Hair-shaving is great. Hair- SPLITTING is the goal. If you do not know how to sharpen your tools, learn, and become awesome at it. It's THE most important skill, second to nothing else you might think. And if you just can't get it there, carry several razor blades in your edc gear. 50 isn't too many.

Cody thanks for the vid. What brand saw is that?
@CavemanCody9 жыл бұрын
+Liberty Airbrushing no problem and its a "sierra saw". I know its a cheap brand but I have to testify it has outperformed my old gerber and saw by many years. ive been using the same saw almost ever since I got into bushcraft. very effective. I wish I still had my old gerber so I could show it. the blade had bent and broke and the cutting teeth had gone dull.

verrrrry useful stuff. Main drawback is animal entanglement in left-over cordage...please remove ALL plastic cordage; animals suffer terribly when tangled in that stuff. Think of animals entangled in those plastic beer retainers; I "rescued" a cat entangled in one and it had really suffered. Very easy to solve: just clean up after yourself in the woods. :) P.S. it shrinks up VERY tightly when you heat it!
