we needed some corn stalks for our pumpkin patch and have never been successful at growing some, so with some extra pool noodles laying around we made some fake corn stalks.

You can absolutley paint them. I didn't need to paint them due to my lighting. They are a filler and not highlighted. Most people don't realize they're even there.
