My father had amazing grace played on bagpipes at his funeral , 21 gun salute as well . he was a nam vet came home with 2 purple hearts a silver and bronze star and left a part of himself in those jungles. He never missed a trip to the wall on the anniversary of his return to the states. It was the only time I ever saw him cry .

July 3d 07' I was at FOB Echo in AL Diwaniyah, Iraq. We got the crap rocketed and mortered out of us for 3 hours straight. I can remember talking to God and telling him if I survived that I would build a pond next to my house and get some ducks and never leave. 3 weeks after I was discharged I started to put the pond in. I go to the VA hospital and the Feed store now. Don't know if it's my best life, but it's a good one.

First of all, thank you for your Service to our country. I am the host of the Brushpile Fishing show, and every year in Ohio we put on a Veteran's fishing tournament. For the past 4 years, we have donated to the Travis Mills Foundation. This year we will partner with the National Veteran and Memorial Museum in Columbus. Proceeds will go to Face the Fight, dealing with Veteran suicide. This is your personal invite to this event! Great song, God Bless

Let me start by thanking you both for your service. I thank God you made it out alive because the message you just related can make a huge difference in many soldiers that still dont know what to do after they come home. Its also a wake up call to the civilians that do not appreciate your sacrifice for there freedom. Thank you, God Bless and God speed.

This is a new breed of combat veteran, and a new embrace of them. Prior generations of veterans didn’t share this optimism and welcome. I’m glad I belong to this new cohort, and that I made it out alive. I relish the chance to humbly and openly share my experiences, if only to talk to myself, or, better yet, change someone’s mind. Either way I’ll just keep moving and taking it all in.

Was never in Combat,...., but I had the privilege seeing what COMBAT does to the Human vessel, (71G) ,..., youth squandered by those that would never risk their own. I saw so much , ENOUGH to know I was a blessed Male, and after the Army, a path was waiting for me to get back on it. So many soldiers, combat vets and those that supported them in the military, Supply, Medical, Administration, ...., we all that "made it out" in our own ways were changed, pray for the ones who did not find that path waiting for them,..., I see it all day long at the base and VA hospital, everyone should walk the halls of a VA hospital for a day,... one of my favorite "less heard of" bands. They do not have to imagine what they sing about. Bless the Soldier.
