@Genshi4 жыл бұрын
Ever since I first got the 0-Coast I fantasied that Make Noise would make a desktop touch plate controller/sequencer for it, but didn't think it would ever happen... and yet, here it is! The only thing missing for me is Ratcheting, but this is made up for with the "Time" lane which makes this sort of like a Buchla mini-MARF! Unfortunately I am so broke now I can't afford anything else at all, which is a big bummer since I have so many ideas I want to try out on this... either way, great work Tony and Make Noise!

Dear Make Noise, I have already pre-ordered this bad boy. I think this is an incredibly well thought out piece of gear. I have one quick question: Is it possible to design some sort of jumper cable (or stackable power cable type dongle) which would allow you to use one power supply cable to power both the 0-Coast and 0-Ctrl at the same time? Thanks so much for your time and keep making magnificent products!!!

Ah, I think I figured it out with some good old Vulcan logic. I think MN is inspired by the Buchla Thunderbird controller (Walker's been experimenting with one). I see symbols that could refer to gestures and pressure. It's a human/touch interface.
@_grossy4 жыл бұрын
Been thinking the same thing, I keep seeing the Sensel Thunder overlay more & more, so it's definitely something that would sell like hotcakes - plus the icons remind me of gestures, etc like you said. Saw in comments that MN talked about testing a new synthesiser during quarantine though, so maybe it is a 0coast type thing with touch interface, which would be freakin amazing, but probably also twice the price of the 0coast lol. The more I learn about it, the more appealing it is. One question.. what volts does it output and can it be attenuated? I'm wondering if I could use it to sequence parameters on things like Moogerfoogers (5v recommended lift) without frying them?
@MAKEN0ISEMUSIC4 жыл бұрын
Pitch, Strength and Time sequence outputs are 0-5V. Gate and Envelope outputs 0-8V. All outputs are variable by the settings of the knobs, or you can attenuate with a module between it and its destination. It seems unlikely that an 8V Eurorack-compatible signal would fry an input on a Moog device, but perhaps double-check with Moog first.
@mrcwalker334 жыл бұрын
Quick question: I have Function and Contour in my modular... will the strength control on this play along nicely with those two modules or at least Contour regarding the velocity feature or are they designed different than the 0-Coast Contour?
@MAKEN0ISEMUSIC4 жыл бұрын
The Signal Inputs of Function and MATHS will respond to variable height gates when using them for envelope generation. The Contour (module) is more like a typical gate input on an envelope generator, so it will either respond or not depending on whether the gate reaches a threshold. However you also have the Dynamic Envelope outs on the 0-Ctrl regardless.
@mrcwalker334 жыл бұрын
@@MAKEN0ISEMUSIC I tested it last night kind of with my SQ1 (CV outs) and it worked very nicely with the function. But also the LxD seems to respond well to this and was not just on/off:)

Any ideas why the clock of the 0-ctrl is super fast, even at the lowest possible tempo of my external clock source ? Is it a matter of a non-matching PPQN value? I couldn't figure out the value of the 0-ctrl.
@MAKEN0ISEMUSIC2 жыл бұрын
0-CTRL is a traditional analog step sequencer; it moves exactly one step when it gets each clock pulse. If you’re sending an extremely fast clock (like 24PPQN) it will move extremely fast (that’d be three times through the sequence on every single beat).

@MAKEN0ISEMUSIC4 жыл бұрын
I bought the watch in 2006 or 2007, with the hope that it would last me at least a few years, since no previous watch had shown itself to be able to stand up to the way I apparently use my wrists in daily life. I’ve shattered the face twice, once on an industrial table in a restaurant kitchen during a work shift, and I cannot remember the circumstances of the second time. Each time it then left my wrist for a year or more until my wife got it fixed for me as a birthday or holiday gift. After 13-14 years it still seems to be going strong! As screens get bigger and higher resolution, the watch is becoming more distracting in the videos and this may actually be among the last times you see it in one of these top-down shots. But I usually wear it in other circumstances, so if we meet in person someday you can get an up-close look at how horrendously scuffed it is.

So is the "Strength" row output more or less useless in anything other than a 0-coast setup? What exactly is being output on this row?
@MAKEN0ISEMUSIC3 жыл бұрын
Strength channel outputs the voltages from the second row of knobs - it's a sequencer output that can be patched to any CV input. The Dynamic Gate output is variable gates whose height is based on this row and is designed for the 0-Coast's Gate input, but it will work with any gate input, the only thing you will lose is response to the varying heights of the gates. Hope that makes sense!
