They just don't make them like this anymore sadly. I tried some of the newer Korg workstations and they don't do it for me, way too clinical and "real" - not a lot of playfulness or unique sonic character

Man I'm glad that Korg now has many of their romplers in VST form but I feel like the 01/W has some extra great, rich sounds in it... either that or you EQ'd everything really well lol. Also that Midiverb sounds really nice!
@Vingul2 ай бұрын
I guess this doesn't exist as a VST then. Can you recommend some who do?
@aquanodemusic2 ай бұрын
@@VingulSure! As Thought-Forms said at the end of the video, there is the Korg M1 VST (classic 80s sounds), the Korg Wavestation VST (90s) or my favourite, the Korg Triton VST (2000s). They all go on sale every couple of months too, also as a bundle together with all other Korg VSTs. Roland also offers their iconic synths (D-50 for 80s sounds or the JV-1080 for 90s sounds) as VSTs, but Roland's cloud subscription service is annoying IMO. I wish Yamaha would also offer VSTs of their motif series but they dont exist yet (hopefully in the future). Last but not least I can recommend for a free rompler the Nils K1v VST which is a recreation of a 80s rompler from Kawai 👍

The FX boxes add a good bit to be fair - but it is an OUTSTANDING sounding machine out of the box as well! Let's hope they do the VST treatment at some point...
@Vingul2 ай бұрын
@@aquanodemusic Thanks very much! At the moment, most VSTs are too "pricey" for me even when on sale, and when I do get less broke I'll probably focus on acquiring some pieces of hardware (a Digitakt and free VSTs is all I have at the moment). *But* anyway, I'll note this down, thanks again.
@aquanodemusic2 ай бұрын
@@Vingul Same, I totally get that! It took me a while to save for FL Studio and the plugins I wanted as well, but the Korg romplers are definitely worth it. Korg also offers demo versions of their VSTs you can try as long as you want the last time I checked. It is amazing how far you can get with free plugins though!

@Thought-Forms2 ай бұрын
Haha, I will typically put up Bitwig project files on my Patreon - but didn't on this one because it's all audio bounced down - not much use without the MID, imo. And I don't tend to flesh out an ENTIRE song - I'll kind of get a core idea / loop, a little bit around it, do a dirty little bedroom master and get that out. That can change though if folks want full tunes to bump in their Porsche 968
@Floralgamingdisplay2 ай бұрын
@@Thought-Forms I definitely wouldn't say no to that lol. Although it's a fair bit more work to make them full tracks. Something like this that's soundtrack/score inspired those songs are usually only a few minutes long anyway. But for most other things, even if you just bounced out something that was the core ideas/loop but in however long you'd made it so we could listen to the layers and progression as you made them would be cool. Love the videos either way man, keep up the great work!

Listening to the Point Break soundtrack now and it’s ironic that you used it as an example as the soundtrack itself was done by ambient composer/trumpet player Mark Isham who did ambient scores for films like The Hitcher (horror) and The Beast (War). Even around this time he was still using analog gear...which he still uses. He played Moog Fest some years back. The gear he was using in the 80s and possibly 90s. Prophet 2000 Sampler. Prophet 5. ARP 2600. Oberheim SEM 4 Voice. Moog Model 15. EMU SP12 Drum Machine. And of course his trumpet played through massive Reverb and delay effects.
