Hi Adam. Thanks a bunch for these tips, they helped tremendously! In our band we use individual in-ear mixes and everything runs through Reaper with both virtual instruments, multiple plugins, various bus routing to enable the individual mixes as well as recording our rehearsals ... all in one box! So, you can imagine my 2017 old laptop pays its dues. ;) We usually had to deal with quite a high degree of clicks and pops when having the latency acceptably low. After implementing your suggestions... nothing! Smooth and awesome! I cannot thank you enough! :-D

You are a gentleman and a scholar. I'm on an ancient 10-year old PC, and I've been looking for some ways to streamline Reaper's resource management. Thanks for this!

I always use 'Trim Silence' on my projects to remove dead air that chews up processing power. It also tidies up the track panel nicely as well.

Thank you very much Mr Steel ! Your tips (especially the SMT tricks) seem to have solved an audio driver issue I had sometimes (with solo, mutes or automation during playback), resulting on a almost freezed/cracking playback. 🙏👏👍

Hey adam thanks for the video.wondering if u have a 16core cpu dont u need to change the specific cpu from 0-15 instead of 0-31 so the hyper thread stops.? Little confused on the video the numbers you entered were the same as before..

What if you have issues with your VST visually lagging? When I turn knobs or adjust levers on a VST, I can hear the changes in my audio, I can't, But the adjustment of the knobs shown the display does not reflect the change Until I perform other actions that causes the visuals to update. How do I fix this?

I followed these and now reaper is barely even playable. Before it stuttered like crazy but now it’s so bad. Sure it’s a problem on my end but I have no idea what to do

Before playing around with Reaper's settings for optimisation, it's always good to save your actual configuration i' case you make things worse... I know it's maybe too late but you can come back to default settings and have a fresh start from here with trials and errors.

I currently have a Dell Inpiron 15 with and i7 core and and SSL2 audio interface. The CPU has 4 cores and runs 8 logical processors. Been having issues with some crackling and popping being recorded on a track but not very often. Just enough to be aggravating. Thinking about upgrading my PC. Any suggestions on what I should look for when it comes to CPU power and memory when running Reaper?

Yo WTF was that FIRE liquid tension experiment track at 6:15????? Did not expect that.

It took some digging, but the track is "Sounds Like Fun" by Mike Malyan.

I am so like Reaper, but I can't use it becousr Reaper perfomance meter show incorrect value accordingly with Windows meter (task maneger), and second strange thing in my Reaper is when I freezing tracks nothings happend)) Cpu perfomance doesn't decrease. I don't know why but freezing doesn't work.
@Tokolele Жыл бұрын
Which kind of freezing do you use ? To reduce CPU load, you should use the one that put FXs offline.
@UserNumeroUnoo Жыл бұрын
@@Tokolele I am using freezing in FX window. Freezing up to last selected fx, and it doesn't work.If I freeze track with all fx it works normally. Maybe I'm doing something wrong way))

Thread behavior : 8 - aggressive, uses more CPU power , and it's not optimal for slow machines. Better to leave : 3 - default. Until recently, the default value was - 4, a few months ago Justin lowered it and made - 3 the default value.

Halfway through and thinking the title should be renamed to Make REAPER Run Smooth On Newer, Stacked Out Machines. Literally nothing about tweaking for older/lower powered machines. Nothing.

Hi Adam, shouldn't you have made this video using an old not top-notch machine to give us a real example? Greetings
@pdppdp38542 жыл бұрын
is that what they call an older machine these days? lol
@adamsteelproducer2 жыл бұрын
No? That's just what I use, no-one's suggesting this is an "older machine" - but the methods apply
@Hello-pl2qe10 күн бұрын
I'm using windows 7 pro. You dont get older than that and I've never had to do any of these suggestions. Just adjust your buffer.
