Looking good RK! For safety from fumes or even flash fires I would recommend a heavy rubber or fire retardant material that mirrors the shifter boot underneath and clamps hard to the trans shifter tower. Since you don't plan on driving it much, you may be fine. I did similar to yours in my 84 Nissan pickup and it has been a pain in my ass. At speed it inflates and blows hot air. I don't worry much about fumes or fire in an 84, though, it's almost new compared to your Ford!

Thanks Dog!! We put a channel in the neck of the boot for a hidden zip tie, so we're not worried about fumes!! We'll see if anything else needs to be done after a high speed road test!!☻

I was thinking you might need some kind of rubber seal between the shifter on the trans and the floor of the cab. It would definitely prevent the shifter boot from blowing up like a balloon up at speed, and stop any fumes from the engine getting inside better. It would also help prevent water damage from water/slush splashing up from underneath.

Hey RK nice job. If you want a quick resource for your paper templates search teh interwebs on Cone Calculator. For a more in depth resource search Wikisource for a 1921 book "Sheet Metal Drafting", the boot with an angle cone is in there, Scelene Cone is where the axis of the cone is at an angle to the base. It's a great resource for traditional methods of template making .. sometimes just looking at the correct method, and you're off freehanding it.

Awesome job- This truck gets better everyday! Funny story I had a friend who was just finishing up his car before a show and one of the screws holding the shift boot ring was missing so he brought out the drill to quickly drill a hole and insert a screw. As he drilled thru the ring into the carpet a strand of the carpet caught the drill bit and unraveled a big section! He was horrified! LOL #$%^ HAPPENS!

I understand why you went with white but it might get dirty and show ! Some people don’t need an excuse to break into a vehicle so maybe put a 12 volt charge on the shifter knob and make them pee there BVD’s ! Daily driver my butt , that’s freaking gorgeous ! You can do my interior any time there bud ! When I was younger I liked a low toned louder sound but now I like a low toned quieter sound at my age ! Lol 😂
