I’m so glad I found your channel! I got my first sourdough starter going about 2 weeks ago and bagels are on the top of my list of recipes to try!

Will fresh milled flour work? What type of wheat berries?

You can use self rising flour if you’re not going for total organic flour. That way you dont have to add baking powder.
@turnerfarm18 сағат бұрын
You just have to be careful since the baking powder in those often contains aluminum. Organic pure baking powder is important

Could these be allowed to sit for the sourdough to proof a bit
@turnerfarm18 сағат бұрын
Yes absolutely ! I mention it in the video

❤I don’t have Greek yogurt, or yogurt that’s not frozen, so I’m wondering what I can substitute.

Wondering if these could be fermented on the counter or in the fridge with either discard or fed starter? Or does that defeat the 30 min goal!

Do they taste like a traditional bagel?
@turnerfarm18 сағат бұрын
No as mentioned in the video they have a bit of a different texture

Thanks for sharing! Just FYI in the video it looks and sounds like you add 2 tsp of baking powder but the caption says 1.

Would this work with whole wheat flour?
@turnerfarm18 сағат бұрын
They would be much more dense

I baked them but the bagels was doughy with the time suggested. I had to add more baking time. Anyone else have that issue or what did I do wrong
@turnerfarm18 сағат бұрын
Every oven is different !! I suggest using An internal thermometer for baking as you can be certain when things are done . These should be 200f internal temp

I tried these twice and they didn't turn out:( The first time I used 1 tsp of baking powder as the recipe calls for but they came out very dense and doughy. Second time I added 2 tsp baking powder as stated in the video but they were still doughy. The dough was also super sticky to work with. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.
@turnerfarm18 сағат бұрын
It should not be sticky! If anything I usually have to add less flour. It might be your discard . I find it more helpful to use discard that is a bit active and thicker! If you use soupy discard it will take on a liquid component and make your dough more sticky😊
