There’s a Chinese lullaby that’s called the ten rabbits. The translation in English is, Big hare is sick, Second hare is looking, Third hare is buying medicine, Forth hare is decocting (boiling something), Fifth hare died, Sixth hare lift, Seventh hare digs a hole, Eighth hare buries, Ninth hare is sitting on the ground crying, Tenth hare asked them, why are you crying? I sang rock-a-bye to my baby brother when he was a babe I eventually got bored of the more common ones so I went to one's in different languages like Russian because I thought it had a nice soothing tune and both he and I had enjoyed it and I eventually began to sing it to him when we went for walks. Imagine my surprise when I found out bayu bayushki bayu was on her list. It's good to see you feeling a bit better from the plague thank you for posting even with everything going on.

I currently live at indonesia, and at school multiple kids would perform. When i got picked one of the songs was lelo ledhung, i was surprised to know what it is about, but then again one of the origins of alullaby is aparently the dsughter dies but the mom still hears the daughter crying each night so the mother says sleep nina, sleep nina, if you don't sleep you will get bitten by a mosquito
@missynceria13512 жыл бұрын
Also for the translation it was actually the part which was used for the performance (wonderland indonesia 1) i would say the more excact translation is "Hush my child, don't cry out loud too much, my child whose face is pretty." As for the rest i never learned (altough there is one line we also learned) but anyways there is a little bit of correction

I don’t know most of these, but I remember back in the 1980’s when I was a kid, the horrifying lyrics to a lullaby would make me bust up laughing at first because my mom would exaggerate her voice and face when singing the bad stuff. One time I asked her semi-seriously yet giggling, “Mom, I’m supposed to be able to sleep now?!” She would tell me they made the lyrics bad as a joke so that I’d laugh, be happy, and have no nightmares. It worked too! She made it a funny joke between us, and it worked! 😁💜🌷

the "soucouyant" is pronounced the sookoonya and the story about her is, she goes to the kids who won't sleep and she's like a mosquito so she peels off her skin and becomes a giant mosquito thing, then she goes to the child who doesn't sleep and basically give a mosquito bite to them. Then she puts back on her skin again and technically shapeshifts to a human and nobody knows. Next some people will try to find her and put pepper in her jar of skin when she is mosquito biting them so she will itch all day long, and everyone will know it's her.

Sixth hare threw their sibling in the hole. Eighth hare buries the dead body but secretly Ninth hare saw what happened, fell on the ground on its knees and cries. Tenth hare is confused and askes Ninth hare what is wrong why r u crying? Then Ninth hare tells Tenth hare and is also shocked and starts crying.
