So these lock tention tools from Falle-Safe are not being made any more 😢, so what to do? 🤔 Make them! 😃 🛠 I’m really pleased with how they came out, let me know how I did in the comments and maybe give them a go yourself! As a few kind people noted, the template is here: locklab.com/resources/6365-2/attachment/falle-safe-tension-tool/

Since I suspect that many of us will want to try this (as I immediately did), McMaster Carr (in the USA at least) is a great source for feeler gauge material as well as a mind boggling assortment of raw materials and tools for almost any conceivable use. Perhaps not as cheap as Ebay or other sources, but excellent quality and fast shipping.

I've been trying to get the Falle Safe set for a couple of years and spent over $1000 trying to win one(without success) just for the tensioners. They look perfect for picking the front pin when all other tok tensioners fail. Hopefully I'll be able to find out soon. Thanks Lock Noob for showing how to make this tensioner!
@LockNoob4 жыл бұрын
The tensioners are not really that great tbh, and the set itself I’d say is best for collectors rather than used for everyday picking
@saschaschneider63554 жыл бұрын
Those came out nicely. Great job on recreating (and improving on) the original Falle-Safe ones. What I love about this is that I started watching thinking "I wouldn't even have the tools to do this!" - and while watching I realised that I do or could substitute the ones I don't have with ones I have - like using a drill instead of the hole punch. Great job on that, too
@LockNoob4 жыл бұрын
If you drill, go very, very slowly- steel is hard to drill

Very nice. And the knurled knobs are probably an improvement since you can tighten them more securely and be less likely to have slippage at an inopportune moment. Apparently, the patience and attention to detail that is necessary to become good at lock picking is also useful in tool making. 🙂

Just a tip; to grind the screwheads flat, put your dremmel tool in a vice and holding each screw with pliers, grind the head down on the face of the disc, not the cutting edge (also a good use of those discs when the cutting edge goes blunt. I use engineering diamond coated cutting disks)
@LockNoob4 жыл бұрын
No, I’d never use the flat of a disc for that for a few reasons, not least they are far more likely to snap

I sometimes put my work in a vice, but sometimes it gets in the way. I do take a LOT of care when working, despite what it might look like, but I appreciate the tips. As for the lead cadmium thing, again, you are not wrong with the safety concerns, but also this is something I might do a couple of times a year and I clean my hands straight after, so my exposure is low.
