As the 4x method has bias on the outside (v. other methods of HST construction) mind the handling of the edges. If I were to duplicate the block in a quilt (and it is so beautifully charming), I would use the 8x method for the HSTs. I will definitely make this block and have saved it. Thanks so much for your demo. I have another brand FG ruler...I would recommend any to get a multi sized FG specialty ruler such as yours, and use this method (no waste) which is the MOST effective way to have 100% perfect geese. A production tip (from my personal sweat shop) when trimming: Make the first round of cuts and place to side. Rotate the entire pile and make the second round of cuts. Even with a spinning mat, you are making 1/2 of the turns in the piece. Helps when you have hundreds to contend with.

Great advice! Thank you so much. I haven't yet had to make 100's of flying geese but I'm sure they're in my future somewhere.
