Beautiful candle holders! Just came back today from my father in laws funeral in FL and he was a master woodturner and teacher who crafted some of the most beautiful items that he gifted to us and other family members that we will all cherish forever. I really don't know too much about it myself but I find enjoyment in watching others do their work! :)

LOL, yeah. When the top blade chuck assembly broke, I resurfaced the table top, while waiting for parts, and then replaced the chuck. What a difference it makes in sliding the wood!

Looks good. Making mine for xmas gifts out of walnut. Cut mine 1/4" longer and bored one end 1/4" deep with a 1-1/2" forstner bit for the tea light to sit in.

Been waiting on this video and can't wait to get out in the shop after this one. I noticed the transformation of your saw table from dull and beat up to new and shiny. You must have done this project while working on the table restore in your earlier video. Nice job on both counts, and as always... thanks for sharing these with us.

I would really appreciate it when you do projects if you could share what blade(s) you use. As a real novice scrollsawer I need to get some input on what style to use when. The project looks really nice and is a keeper for sure. Thanks Pat

Hi Pat. It was a #5 Olsen reverse tooth blade.
@Belg197010 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Is this your "go to" blade??
@Tiki7110 жыл бұрын
Usually THAT is an Olson 2/0 Reverse tooth. I used the #5 in this case because of the thicker wood.

Love the candle holder. I'd really like to find the 3d Christmas ornament (theres a video about what I'm talking about) but I'm broke. I have the wood (plenty of it) and this would be awesome for Christmas gifts this year.

Thanks. Run your thumb along the blade teeth from bottom to top. If there's no resistance, it's upside down and should be flipped over to where you feel the teeth ;-)

I thoroughly enjoy your videos. Beautiful work! I want to make these out of a more exotic wood (either bloodwood, walnut, or African Padauk), but I'm unsure about whether you can scroll hardwoods over 3/4" in thickness. I have an Excalibur 21" saw. Thanks for all you post! Keep the videos coming!
@Tiki7110 жыл бұрын
Thank you Preston. Thick hardwoods can be a challenge. Just have to feed the work slowly and keep the blade lubricated.

Hello from Kathleen, GA. I am a beginner with a Dewalt DW788. I am so frustrated trying to follow the line. My blade has a front to back movement of at least 3/16 of an inch. Just putting a piece of wood in next to the blade causes my wood to shake a lot. Do you the saw is not tuned properly? Any help would be much appreciated.
@Tiki712 жыл бұрын
@@jerrywmalone Hi Jerry. When you put the blade in, make sure it's clamped in tight and tensioned tightly as well. I use a pair of needle nose pliers to give the thumb screws a little bit of extra torque. Having a foot pedal for starting and stopping, will also allow two hands on the wood for an easier time of it. Use the pedal and the blade speed to get a flow you're comfortable with.

Mr Reagan - I am looking for the pattern that you used to create the candle holder. I ordered the Spring 2012 Woodworking and Crafts magazine to get the pattern and I cannot find the pattern anywhere in the magazine. You also mentioned that you have the pattern on your blog and I get a message saying the blog no longer exists. Would you have a copy of the pattern by any chance, or another place I could obtain the pattern? Thanks for the trouble!

This is by far the best woodworking book I`ve ever read, “pepe amazing plan” (Google it). My wood working teacher endorses it to all of his learners. I am astounded by the amount of information the authors go into topics. I am astonished by the material and did not have a difficult time following the lessons.
