This cabinet is awesome! How do you access the under side of the jointer for adjusting the level of the infeed surface?
@buildxyz4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Jakes! There is a lever that is exposed and easy to access from the outside to adjust the infeed table height. No modifications required, it’s just the stock adjustment lever. You can see the lever in my previous video were I rebuilt the jointer. The jointer is bolted to the top of the cabinet so you would have to unbolt it to fix things like to replace a bearing etc...
@jakeschmidt41584 жыл бұрын
@@buildxyz cool, but what about calibration? The jointer I have is similar and I don't have to do it often, but a few times per year I will check each corner of the infeed for level and adjust using bolts located underneath.
@buildxyz4 жыл бұрын
@@jakeschmidt4158 I see, mine cannot be adjusted to fix it if it goes out of level. Could you still build something like this but provide for holes on the top of the cabinet which line up with your adjustment bolts underneath? So you can access them with an extension and not have to remove the jointer?

@@buildxyz that makes sense. This is a little down the project list but I'll probably build it in the next 3 months. I'll keep you updated!

*Love the size and weight of this little jointer **MyBest.Tools** Easy to set up and light enough to pick up and put away. The adjusters and controls are dead easy to use. It has an aluminum deck rather than iron, but for those who are careful it should suffice, and it has a vacuum port that, unlike some other tools I have, actually gathers ALL the dust. Very happy with this for the price.*

Did I miss something? I truly like this table not only my jointer but, also for my miter saw. One problem though, I can't find the plans. The link in the description does not work... Please advise.

Kinda wondering... Where'd you get the hinged motor mount?

The old stand, you can also buy them I think?

I recently received a joiner from a friend. I love this cart you built. I'm going to build this from your plans. The plants called for 5/8 inch Baltic Birch plywood which I can't seem to find anywhere. The three quarter inch and quarter inch plywood is easy to find. Is there any particular reason you used 5/8 in? Can I use half inch it seems to be only for the drawers. Am I correct?
@buildxyz3 жыл бұрын
Hi Ken, so glad you going to tackle this project! You can definitely substitute materials here. There are many options and my plans try to provide an optimized approach for the required strength and are laid out for both 5'x5' and 4'x8' sheet goods. I usually make drawers 5/8" thick but you can go up to 3/4" here and also use 3/4" for the bottom of the drawers. In this case you will also want to run a dado in the bottom pieces so the drawer bottom slides into place. I would avoid thicknesses thinner than 1/2" for drawers as it get flimsy and the drawer slide fasteners may poke through. Keep in mind you will have to do math for certain pieces if you change the thickness of any components. For example, upgrading the drawer sides to 3/4" thickness will increase the overall drawer depth. Baltic birch is also a premium plywood and you can go with cabinet grade if your budget prefers. The edges won't look as nice but you can also edge band them. So many choices!

Thanks for the timely response.I purchased the plywood today and ready to start in the morning. Will send a picture when I'm done.

Well I'm into the build I noticed the support body dimensions on the cut list and cutting layout are different from the measurements on the diagram. Did you change the size and not change the plans? The 7 9/16" seems to be inaccurate measurement.
@buildxyz3 жыл бұрын
Hey Ken, good catch. I'll get to the bottom of this and get back to you. Mine is built to 7-9/16" x 15-13/16" which means the cut list is correct but the dimensioned diagram on page 24 is not.
@buildxyz3 жыл бұрын
Looking at the model closely, that was a fix to better separate support arms. So they should be cut to 8 1/16". I'll follow up with a revised plan :) sorry about that Ken

What are the details on the motor mount pivot?
@buildxyz2 жыл бұрын
Hi Nick, the motor mount is just from the existing stand. Just a basic pivot to tension the belt with gravity.

I really don't understand how extensions like yours can work on a jointer.You absolutely need a flat surface to proprely use a jointer. You would need extension tables, not supports . You have to understand the principle behind a jointer. This is non sense in my opinion and will never provide adequate results on boards longer than the actual jointer table....
@buildxyz2 жыл бұрын
It works great and has so for the last year. The flat cast iron surface on the jointer is unchanged and is still the reference plane. The supports are height adjustable and you have to make sure your stock is laying flat on infeed table. Hope you find something that you works for you!
@mrbarton201018 ай бұрын
I too have had luck with rollers, and it all boils down to what kind of bend the boards have to them. He is correct in that a single roller won't be perfect every time, especially for bowed boards or boards with big dog legs. It is only a single point of reference.i With that said it is better than nothing! I'm about to bulld something similar but with linear rails and two lab scissor lite on each side to raise and lower the extended tables.
@frankhouck44462 жыл бұрын
Nice build! The jointer I am looking at has the infeed/outfeed table adjustment screws on top and countersunk into tables. Should make adjustments easy. Also, wondering about roller extensions. They are single post design. Does that dialing in level hard? Does it tilt easily side to side? How do you level them throughout the motion? I assume you extend differently for each project? Then, set the distance once and level every-time? Rinse, repeat for every use/project?
