From what I read the issue is the lifters failing /getting stuck the tuner helps but doesn’t stop from the lifters failing …only real good fix is a afm delete being it replaces the lifters with “non abjustable /afm lifters”
@MMCGRACING29 күн бұрын
the tunner keeps it in v8 mode so the lifters are not being cycled , they stay pumped up , ppl believe what they want and form many opinions, i have used this range device in 6of my other dod trucks and never had a issue, so can i guarantee that yours will be ok no but they have worked for me

Great explanation of everything. I did the same things on my 16 silverado along with some basic transmission and converter tuning with hp tuners. It drives so much better and limits the abuse the converter sees with the factory tune, which casues most of the issues.

Please explain. I have a 2018 and would like to do everything I can to keep it strong
@mscheets12 ай бұрын
@@bretring I disabled DOD, adjusted shift points, and disabled the converter from locking in gears 1-3. I also changed the tcc lockup speeds to get rid of that lazy feeling when it locks at low speeds. All in all, it's a complete 180 to drive compared to the factory tune. Other than that, I have the thermostat bypass to keep temps down.

@eddieraines2647Ай бұрын
Sounds to me like someone has already done the transmission thermostat bypass from the temperatures you mentioned.. You can just flip the thermostat valve and it allows free flow of transmission fluid. That is what I did on my 2014. No need to buy a kit. I also, with draw a gallon of trans fluid every 20k miles and put a new clean gallon back in. Just a little insurance, maybe. I am at 125k on mine.
@MMCGRACINGАй бұрын
no it was the stock thermo valve in there , but it was a lower mileage one older adult owner, so maybe we just got lucky on a good unit, but i still put it in anyway it doesn't get over 145 degrees pulling 30 ft camper so i'm happy 👍

Strange, my Corsa Catch Can is installed opposite. Long hose or line on right goes to PVC connection up front. Hope I installed it right🤔 I own a 2014 with 35k on it, was a former MN DNR Park Service truck I won on auction, so the can and Range were the first I did. I’m a little hesitant at over cooling that transmission on mine as I won’t be towing much and with -30-40f winters, too cold is also harmful to the tranny. I plan to just change fluid every 30k or so.

The thing on the RANGE AFM deactivating module is that it messes with the emissions testing and the vechile will not pass the state emissions tests. You have to remove the RANGE Module and drive for at least 50 miles. It sucks that you have to do this. I can't get tags for my truck unless the thing passes the emissions testing. I'm dumping the truck soon.

That looks like a 14' or 15' but it's definitely not a 16" and using a range technologies AFM programmer does not guarantee one of the AFM lifters (Cyl 1,4,6 or7) still won't fail. The shift technologies transmission thermostat kit also doesn't guarantee the torque converter doesn't fail either. The torque converters weren't constructed well inside. That kit is ok but you should install a billet torque converter. I installed the upgraded GM thermostat P/N 85585333 by GM SB 21-NA-199 that's regulates the trans temp from 90 degrees C down to 70 degrees C. I don't know about the K and N oil catch can but I understand the theory for a purely GDI engine.
@loganmcdonald4326Ай бұрын
How much was the upgraded thermostat?
@subatomicparticle6535Ай бұрын
@@loganmcdonald4326 I paid $82cad no shipping cost, I chose this route because it's a genuine GM part. It lowers the temp from 195F to about 158/160F or from 90c to 70c. GM stamps 70 on the end when it's been upgraded. The only way it will work on your truck is if you also replace the trans cooler lines because they're different on a 14-15' than on the 16-18's. Your lines are held in by clips and mine by a plate with a 10m bolt.
