Tip for heat festivals - put a spray bottle full of water in your cooler to spritz yourself when you’re about to lose it from the sweat fest. 😅

I have a portable ceiling fan I purchased from Amazon for $15, a 15 ft USB cable and a power bank I got, primarily for(oops edit) Primarily for power outtages. I bungee it to the top of the tent before we push it up, and it really makes a difference! Especially, if you put the paddles in upside down drawings cooler air up. 😊👍 And I ALWAYS have a spool of green florist wire. They are cheap, strong and handy! You never know if you need it until you do.

I’ve never though of lighting my art, it’s usually on a daytime but some venues are dark and outside can be overcast, my art definitely benefits from light and some go quite neon and vivid with light hitting the side .

“Not lose your s#it if it’s not going how you want.” I recently changed my set up and my last event already had tables and walls for me to use so it didn’t end up looking how I wanted but it was still fine. But I was losing my 💩 lol 😂 My vision was to look vintage. But it ended up not standing out how I wanted. Oh well. Still sold some paintings. 🙏🏻❤️ God is good.

Hi Robbie you have been a huge inspiration to me ever since I've been watching your Channel This Spring was the first time I went to the Farmers market with my paintings at first I was scared to death of what people would think of my art But when I watched KZbin channel you gave so much good advice and encouragement just to get out there and I did and I never will regret that I have sold so many paintings and got so many commissions it's unbelievable I made some canvas walls from your tutorial and they were great there are so many ways that you can set them up I never worry and any situation as I Was moved around quite a bit never in one spot so I had to come up with different set ups I just finished a commission job that was a mural on the side of a garage it was 24 foot long and 12 foot high It turned out awesome and they absolutely love it I will try to post a picture for you if I can But I just wanted to say thank you for makin your videos to really help people get started in their art career

Thank you for this great info! I know you've talked about it before, but the visuals really helped. Also I flippin' love that painting of the guy riding the huge fish! I saw it on screen for a second in one of the clips you showed.

I rewatch this often for inspiration, there needs to be a book of these shows, work of art in themselves !! I bought expensive and heavy grid walls used them a few times but now I just bring STAS and hang those off the metal fence at the flea market or if that space has gone ill rest them on the stones on the slope, using the environment and not needing to bring a wall at all is my currently go to, just bring cables for hanging ; and perhaps a few easels to put larger work on. Some bins preferable wooden rustic but the plastic ones work too though I don’t like using plastic too much if I can help it, and I’ll stand a few of the 10x8 . Haven’t mastered it to your level yet. Would you say a gazebo is worth it even if the weather is dry ? I’m reluctant as it’s yet another investment but a pop up one that’s compact would be useful and could have a side label or two; lined with fuzz to Velcro things too as well :)

Plastic tubs are soo key for outdoor or indoor. I had a guy next to me who had a whole large drink spill on his comic boxes which were all cardboard and open.

Also don’t forget to bring something to cut your zip ties with when you are tearing down…I know this from experience! Home Depot has big hard plastic cases on wheels which is how I transport everything. Put everything in your car the night before. Bungee chords are also good! Having a pickup truck is awesome for festivals so if someone will let you borrow theirs do it!

The only time I ever couldn’t do a show was because of wind. Tried to set up at a small vineyard outside one year but the wind was somewhere in 15mph or more I couldn’t even get my tent set up. And I sell mostly paper/ print products so everything would have just blown away had I set up. Done several different set ups over the years depending on how level the area that I’m setting up on is, flexibility is good for setting up displays.

I loved the tips and visuals! I have yet to have a system for market set ups that I truly love. I had no idea you could set up your artwork on the outside of the tent. How do you prep for windy weather?

Love the idea of using Burlap for your walls. That is burlap? IT could also be muslin but that's a lot more expensive.

Burlap is very thick, rough & rather loose BUT far stronger than muslin. Although, when I was hired to do a “mural” of a sunset at sea, title: Sailor’s Delight! 6’ W x 22’ H !!!!!! They ended up preferring more of a banner. So I used muslin, primed on both sides - 3 times on the top/front. Turning it carefully after drying each coat. Stretching with t-pins for the first coat. It ended up VERY strong, enough to tack onto a pretty light frame. But if it was just the fabric, hanging heavier work on it would need inner support OR dangling from the frame; with the fabric being just a backdrop.

I hate art shows and exhibitions. Blah, blah, blah, stress and headaches. Luckily I could sell all the shit directly from my studio. I also had an agent who sold my stuff. I was lucky.

I used to participate at the Greenwhich Village Outdoor Art Festivals in NYC many years ago. Just the competition of finding a parking space along with other Artists and rushing to set up before the show starts was nerve racking. Also willing to deal with the riff-raff walking along the side walks of NYC tested my composure when talking to buyers. Challenges like that, to me, shows the love an Artist feels about their work!

5:15 wowwww I so want to paint my old gray pickup. 😱I’m afraid😱 I’ll get stopped by the cops more often or something if I do tho. Do you get stopped more often by the cops or do they leave you alone? 😂

How long does it take you guys to set up your booth. Asking anyone who wishes to answer. I am the last person at each show to drive away. I am also working on faster and better ways.
