One thing I learned through the years, like he implied, always try to make your drums first. I play with the chops, but when you make that dope bounce, the loop will come to you.
@xtralarsproductions4 жыл бұрын
Also another thing, If you're just trying to get down real quick and make a quick outline, the two BD's can be done by lowering the ghost notes velocity instead. But as you hopefully can hear, if you spend the time, you get something unique. It just takes a bit more effort.
@theycallmeheat4 жыл бұрын
Exactly!!! Also, I like diff kicks sometimes, just because it gives it a grungy vibe. So the ghost note is totally diff from the original kick so they don’t clash. But I do the way you suggested as well.
@xtralarsproductions4 жыл бұрын
@@theycallmeheat I know, I heard you did it on another vid, so I knew you knew what I was talking about. It's kinda like layering snares. There's two tones to them, like in the physical realm. Two skins on the drum. I used to do this method as in this vid more often, but now I find that I get more work done doing it the quick way, and then come back to it. BUT! Its WAAAY more exciting taking the time to do it like you just did. Finding the right drums that pair up nice, dont clash etc etc. But what do I know, knowmnsayn. Anyways, dope shit!
@NeckNoddin4 жыл бұрын
Not true at all it's not like there's a rule that one must follow it's totally subjective I personally listen to the sample first then I lay the drums second sometimes I work the other way around it depends.
@theycallmeheat4 жыл бұрын
Totally correct it is subjective. I don’t think he was saying follow that rule. But that’s something HE learned over the years, that has helped him. 💯

You working in double time basically saved live recording drums for me. I found myself losing the time and being way off at like, 70 BPM, but when recording at 140 I am dead on with a metronome. I think the constant ticks make your brain keep in sync much easier. Thanks for the life hack and the vids bro!!!! Super super helpful.

My goodness. Those 16 levels on the pads is brilliant. Gonna see about adopting that. TIL!
@blacksheep68633 жыл бұрын
Bro, you know how to get 16 levels velocity on fpc or anything inside fl studio ? 😭
@TheEvilSoft3 жыл бұрын
@@blacksheep6863 So for me, I am using an Arturia KeyLab49 Essential which has only one MIDI script, but is lacking. I had to start writing my own. My controller does not allow setting a Velocity range for a pad. What I wanted to do, was map all pads to C5, then have the velocity range. So if you have a controller that can map velocity you could try that. Would put all those hats on the piano roll for a one shot. FPC would be a pain tho. So what I am doing now is mapping the pads to be CC messages for one of the Template Presets. Then in my MIDI script, I intercept it and turn it into a Note On/Off with the C5 value and map the CC number (each pad gets its own) to the velocity for the pad, working on sending a value through the Midi controller so I can do that mapping in the Template. What type of controller do you have, I may be able to help you out?

YOOO. How do you like those HS8's? I had the LSR305's and had to sell them in 2019. I wish I had kept them, but I'm in the market for some new joints. Was thinking about just getting the gen 2 updated pair. I was doing some research and kept coming back to them. But: Would the Yamaha HS7/HS8 be a significant upgrade? Better for mixing beats? Would there be any real benefit to spending a bunch more money? I'm getting back into beatmaking/sampling and would like your input. I like mixing on both headphones and monitors, but headphones are my favorite. Sick a** beat in the background fam. Oh and I love doing the melody before the drums! I'm doing an FL Studio Beginners tutorial series on my blog and actually just mentioned that. I don't know why, but I've always done it that way and it gets me super pumped lol. God Bless and peace from another soul brother!

In the top left corner of the slicer hit the gear ⚙️ button. Then hit the ADSR (the slope looking button right below the gear) then turn up the release knob. Then the last button next to the adsr settings and turn the polyphony to 1 so your chops cut each other off and dont overlap
