Excellent excellent video! There’s not enough out there discussing design, only technique. Design tends to be shown not discussed. A huge thanks for talking about this and getting me to think about woodworking a little differently!

That's what I've been finding too! You can find a million video on how to cut a dovetail, but so few on the decisions as to why you would want to. I'm planning to do alot more videos like this as I try to experiment more with my own design style. If you're looking for some more design videos this is one of my favourite channels, www.youtube.com/@themountaintopjoinersshop8422

@@morganhurst_redridge he’s one of my favorites and for the exact same reason!! I really liked the series where he explained how to graduate the height of drawers!

Great explanation of the benefits and considerations of a stepped design. There are more benefits than I knew! I’ll have to consider introducing this into some of the pieces I make.

I sincerely hope you never stop putting these incredibly informative videos out for everyone. It is absolutely mind boggling how you don’t already have several hundred thousand subscribers considering you put out some of the best quality videos I’ve ever seen.

Very good technical, design information. I'll store that one. And good presentation too. Check your email for a simple mortise and tenon jig. I cut tenons with a jap saw and they fit perfectly straight from the saw. It's the jig, not me.

That is a very interesting setup, thanks for sending it to me! I might have to give it a go on a future project, I love the idea of using some more handtools!

I like using steps, but I don't like having every element be at a different step.

It definitely depends on the project, some need a little extra detail others look better with some flush sections.

@@morganhurst_redridge Agree! I don't like to have more than three 'planes' on case work.
