Make your mower deck bearings last for years. John Deere deck to Sears Suburban mower PART ONE

How to put grease fittings in your mower decks. One of mine is pushing 50 yrs with the original bearings. This deck is a John Deere 314 deck that will be going under a Sears Suburban. Box store lawnmowers can be done this way to save you time and money as well. Most older ones like Cub Cadet , Wheel Horse , Snapper had greasable spindles but the old John Deeres did not. I think it was because they wanted to keep selling expensive bearings they knew wouldn't last.

What decks can you put under a sears mower I'm looking at a ST16?

I have put Cub Cadet , John Deere (old model) decks under them. It's best if you have the Suburban lift linkage ,also the mule head (front idler pulleys) to go with it. It is hard to get the mule head pulleys adjusted just right. If you get one without any of the mowing accessories you may wanna try and find one close by to go look at as you Fab up yours. I put a Cub Cadet deck under an old Sears Custom. It didn't have the mule head pulleys and I made a bracket system. It was lots of cutting and rewelding to get them rite. The gaurd that goes over the mule head is very important. Without it the belt will fly off in seconds. Good luck
