Make your own Bottle Xylophone

Keep the kids entertained with this easy to make do it yourself bottle xylophone.
You will need:
- Bottles (as many as you like)
- Water
- Food colouring (optional)
- a beater like a spoon, chopstick, etc.

It defies my understanding of physics. Why does the pitch get lower with the more water you add?

the amount of water makes it harder for the sound to travel through it, making it slower, thus the lower pitch
