Make your own Custom Scrabble Tiles using your Cricut

These adorable scrabble tiles make a perfect gift or addition to your home using your Cricut. The first step is to know what size tiles you will be using. Then in Cricut Design Space use the font Scrabbles from Dafont.com to know the value of each letter. You can also google the values or use a scrabble game. Then I used the Font Arial Unicode MS for my letter and values. I attached each letter with the number to make it easier to use and have spaced correctly. Once I have my letters designed then I cut them out using your Cricut. Before applying the vinyl gently sand each square with the grain using 200 grit sandpaper. Weed your letters and numbers then using transfer tape to transfer your stencil to your wood square. Using your scorch marker cover all areas but not too much to decrease the chance of bleeding under the vinyl. Before removing the vinyl I found it worked best to use a paper towel and wipe the excess marker off. This technique provided me with the smoothest lines. Then using my heatgun I moved the tip continuously to avoid excessively burning the wood. I recommend sealing the wood after but it is not absolutely necessary. I used polycrylic to seal but you have many options if you choose to seal them. Lastly, I recommend using command 3M strips to secure them to the wall. I tested many different techniques to find the best outcome. I found using a bigger heatgun not just an embossing heatgun or blow-dryer worked the best. I also tested 2 different scorch markers. They both worked the same and the 2 pack was significantly cheaper. The best way to decrease in the marker bleeding was to wipe the excess before removing the stencil. I also tried to heat the vinyl to secure to the wood before applying the marker but it didn't make a difference in bleeding. I hope these tips help you create the perfect scrabble tiles! Enjoy!
