This has to be the best pressing board instruction ever! I thought I was going to have to go out and buy special batting, canvas and felt, only to find I have everything I need right here without spending another penny. You are definitely a star for saving me a heap of time and money, Many thanks for showing how easy these jobs can be.

First, line the board with heavy duty aluminum foil...it will help reflect heat and prevent stream from penetrating the board.

It looks like the back of a corset the way you wrapped the towel...great idea... I invested in multiple layers of felted wool I made from used wool sweaters I bought second hand and placed it under my cotton towel...it works great

Thank you so much. You really save my pocket. 😘 I was about to go buy a new iron board but after seeing this I think I'll just use my old study table and everything inside my home without spending any money. This is the only tutorial that's using zero 💵💲

Hi Lisa I was looking at your pressing board last night and wondered if you had made it. Of course you had - what a silly question 😀😀😀. I certainly want one of these, thank you for another fabulous tutorial. You are so amazing - a real sewing fairy😔😔 xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx😘🙋🏻❤️🌟 Timewise it is Sunday evening 18.39 in U.K.. Hello sweet ladybug! Glad I could pass along the tips about my pressing board. I have a small studio and having the ironing board out all the time took up too much foot space and I was always shifting it around here and there. PLUS....I like the width of this board for pressing t-shirts for quilts :) I hope you have a fantastic week friend!

Great tutorial especially if one does not have a stapler. I find mine gets scorched before it gets dirty so always replace the cover with a new one. I tend to buy cheap cutting boards as they are more moisture resistant than plywood or chipboard.

You are so clever! I just discovered your channel and have been learning so much! This is a great pressing mat, but I was wondering if I could use velcro on a large mat as I wanted to be able to use it on my dining room table to press large quilt tops. The safety pins would scratch my table, but would be very easy to change out the fabric. Thanks for all you teach us Lisa!
@TheQuiltmakerHomestead

I really like the idea of using the Velcro! You are right, the pins could scratch any hard surface possibly and the Velcro would eliminate that for sure :)

Excellent! And what I really like about your method....the board was not damaged with staples in the process! I'm actually gonna make one...maybe two of varying sizes! Thank you for sharing.

So glad I could pass along the tips....I like your idea of making two....I'd actually like to have one that is a little bit skinnier....but about a yard long for pressing longer seams.
@trduesing4117

Lisa Capen Quilts that's what I was thinking! I'm sure the lumber people would cut any length we need! I was also thinking of a smaller one to have by the sewing machine to press a seam with a mini steam iron!!
