Does anyone know how to trigger record on a Sony A7R4 via transmission, looks like you can access the menus no problem, but no way to hit record or take a photo. Any one got any tips??
@MAKEARTNOWCHANNEL2 жыл бұрын
So you need to buy the R4D grips in order to trigger recording easily. But I got a work around if you don't want to buy those. Go into Sony menu, "custom key setting" on your movie settings, then go down to "rear 2" so you can assign a custom button to the d-pad, on the camera. Then select one of the directions and assign it "movie shooting". I would recommend the center button but you could assign l,r,u,or d. Then make sure the virtual widget is turned on in the transmitter / monitor (general setting, screen setting). And boom! I just tested this and got it to work without the hand grips.
@danieldesilva46302 жыл бұрын
@@MAKEARTNOWCHANNEL Thanks buddy, I’ll give that a go. I have the grips, and just assumed the trigger will not communicate with the Sony A7R4 as it’s using Bravia Sync via HDMI (widget) not lanc. But nonetheless I am grateful there is a workaround!
@MAKEARTNOWCHANNEL2 жыл бұрын
So, I can confirm if the camera is also Bluetooth connected to the RS3 pro and you're using the gimbal not standalone transmitter , then you are able to use the grips to trigger recording as that is being sent thru the transmission system to the rs3 pro and then to the camera and not Bravia sync.
@MAKEARTNOWCHANNEL2 жыл бұрын
But you must connect the RS3 pro to your camera via blue tooth controls first. (This allows you to also use the record button function on the back of the rs3 pro handle to trigger record.)

I'm excited for a future where DJI make standalone video transmitters and receivers. I'd love to be able to run a full wireless multicam setup; as it not only saves setup time, but some situations are just unfeasible for running cables. The choices to do wireless multicam at the moment are a massive compromise; to get a kit affordably (both in terms of initial purchase cost and price charged to the client) means sacrificing signal reliability and image quality, to get a kit that is reliable and good image quality means making a huge investment that clients may not be prepared to pay for. DJI's transmission technology is absolutely amazing. I'm keeping my hopes up that we see a TX + RX kit from them soon!

Another one of your absolute masterpieces, dude. I'm so happy that I'm getting into filmmaking at a time when I've got to see you and 'Gerald Undone,' Gene (Potato Jet), and 'Best Boy Adam.' You guys are leading the way in showing us the way. By us, I mean people interested in making content and not having to spend $1 million in a studio; you're giving us the tricks of the trade as they become available and showing us the true capabilities while also being a true leader in content creation. Sometimes I hate the term 'content-creator' and 'content' because it diminishes the authentic creative brilliance that it is. For heaven's sake, please, no one call anyone a content creator for just a week. Anyways, it simply boils down to creativity, and I'm so inspired by you guys, and really, right now, Josh, I'm just talking about you. Thank you so much. I tear up a little bit when I get the opportunity to post a comment and say thank you because I am authentically moved by the effort that you put into every episode. I hope you see this because I watched this video twice; in the first go-round, I rewatched several clips just for ideas and to catch specifics. Wildy entertaining how funny you put everything together with dope music clips and stunning visuals, and the editing/timing flow is MasterClass worthy. I don't know if anyone is even close to you regarding this genre, your vision, and your editing skills. Anyways, I spend a lot of time in words on these comments to blow your skirt up, and I hope it's blown up enough. Again, thank you so much for passing the torch to the rest of us, and I know that means something to you, so I promise I will make art. And I will Make. Art. Now. Have a beautiful fucking day, man. Interesting! I got conflicting data, specifically if it's hot and humid it can travel shorter distances as the signals bounce off of the water molecules in the air. I would imagine if it's anything like the transmission of light, it would be similar to viewing stars--- meaning, on a crisp cold clear night the transmission would be the absolute best. But the source I read also, mentioned about the conflicting information part as well-- both statements can be true with evidence to support. And I also read the the signals can bounce off of the cloud layer and go even further distances--- so who knows. 🤷♂️

My experience with DJI’s transmission system specifically occusync 1 and 2 has proven to me that 2.4Ghz is rarely needed. I don’t have this equipment but I do have drones and my cheap drone I tested it’s a mavic mini 2 which I experiment with so I place the drone down on this shelf I made near the road and take the controller to differant locations and monitor along the way, found even through thick woodlands 5.8 was better than 2.4ghz. Consistently amazed at the Wireless performance, specially at these higher frequencies. I used to own a mavic air 1st hen with dual band Wi-Fi instead of occusync… This is where I think 2.4ghz band option makes sense for some rare situations. Even flying in an area with basically no Wi-Fi anywhere and the terrain is more difficult, 2.4ghz on that transmission tech did genuinely push noticeably further when terrain was limiting factor not congestion of bands with Wi-Fi based drones. With occusync 1 and 2 atleast I haven’t tested O3 yet but seems like DJI optimized it for using 5.8ghz becaue 2.4ghz even in low congestion areas where terrain limiting not congestion limited under preforms and the 5.8ghz signal tends to still push further. I guess it’s great to have another band as a failsafe to fall back into maybe transmitter bugs out or partially dies or got wrong antennas or whatever…. But like to use practically on occusync seems ya no.

I wonder if DJI will manage to incorporate Blackmagic cameras into their remote control software? I have the ability with HDMI on a 6k BMPCC to remote adjust Gain, WB, Tint, Shutter, via my ATEM Mini switchers, so in theory a data path exists, though I wouldn’t know the technical hurdles of translating these tools over to the DJI Transmission system. And if you could remote activate the internal NDs on a 6k Pro, all the better. Unfortunately DJI is real early for these teasers because of the gimbal release, but who knows what else they will incorporate by the time the transmission kit ships in the Fall.

Best strategy is to use like normal antennas but get them above obstructions. Or away from devices that could cause interference-- in the case of the cars, keeping away from cellphones and getting the antennas above the height of the vehicle. Never even considered this as a factor but I guess you're right. Are you pulling by eye most of the time or with marks? I'm guessing by eye. One thing to consider is the latency to the monitor is included. So when comparing to other systems that are latency free (without monitor ) consider it takes about 25-35millisecodns for that to be decoded on your run of the mill atomos monitor. I was going to put thud in my review but it felt bloated as is. Def need to do a side by side with bigger systems to see how it compares. A lot of "latency free " systems being advertised but even the latency on the back of the camera screen is 25 milliseconds--- so how does that compute?
