So... by putting water in to the tank, as is more dense than the gases, you can ensure that nothing is left in to the bottle and you just do it extreme enough without loosing any part of your body by a explosion.
@fixt1008 жыл бұрын
+crazybird2007 because creating a pressurized vessel without having the welds/construction certified is totally above board.
@big65mopar7 жыл бұрын
Filling the tanks with water prevents any residual gasses from igniting and exploding during the cutting process. While you are right that the welds should be certified for pressure vessels the tanks he's made are not critical use and the rubber diaphragms at the top will leak pressure as the material he used is not necessarily rated for moderate to high PSI. Still though I would have tig welded the work instead of mig welding it because mig welds are not rated for the kind of strengths required for pressure vessels as is tig and stick welding.

@@big65mopar your wrong on everything you said. are you just commenting because you like to sound informaed and authoritive? i think so.
@big65mopar5 жыл бұрын
@@freelectron2029 Guess you don't think do you. Mig welds are not used in critical welding in military applications and nuclear applications because the welds are not on the same level of reliability as stick or tig. Filling the tanks with water reduces and or eliminates the volume of potential explosive gas, this is something done on fuel tanks. Not all rubber material is made the same so it's not rated the same nor can it be used in all applications involving pressurized gasses / liquids.

I couldn't see how it was piped up for media, but one bit of advice we got was if you need an elbow, instead use a tee with one branch blocked of with a stop end, this is because an elbow wears out as the media changes direction, whereas if you use a tee the media blocks the unused branch and can never wear out. Seemples :) :) thanks for many excellent videos

Replace plasma with an angle grinder, you could probably get by with a cheap arc welder, a few drill bits and such. I still don't understand the reasoning behind cutting the whole tank in half. Why not just have an opening that you can seal with a valve for loading, and just lightly blow it out before closing it?
@big65mopar7 жыл бұрын
You don't need a fully equipped shop to make your own, I've made various tools without a fully equipped shop and just finished making a metal brake, tool cart, and fence stretcher with nothing more than a drill, drill bits, angle grinder with cutting wheel and a hobby mig welder.
@big65mopar7 жыл бұрын
Cutting the tanks in half makes a larger container allowing for more blast media. He could have did away with this step by going with 2 large 4ft tall tanks but those are not as common or cheap as the standard backyard BBQ tanks that he used.

You know... I pushed pause so I could follow the steps as you did them but I got out in the garage and realized that my nuclear robotic plasma cutter is down. Go figure ha. If I had a nickel... Thanks tho guys, this was very helpful. This could potentially tank the sand blasting service industry. Seriously, if too many people find out that they can have their very own sand blaster for a measly what, $30,000 in equipment to build it? Can you imagine? Hahaha. This is hardly a diy vid but very cool gentlemen. I'm sure I speak for most people that watch this, we're all jeleaous and would love to be able to just throw together a fabrication with precision and have a final product worthy of a store shelf but in all reality, a diy sandblaster would be more like a fancy 5 gallon bucket(fancy as in brand new and not the one in the corner of the garage that has to be rinsed first for the glue to stick) with a fabricated funnel glued to the bottom for better gravity feed. Bro, I would have to save up for just the nuts and bolts to make one of those badboys. Very cool either way but now I'm embarrassed to show people what I made.
