Thanks for watching everyone! As nice as these FMS rigs are out of the box, I enjoy taking the time to modify and improve them. Perhaps I'll attempt a more radical custom build in the future, but for now I've got some simple updates on the FCX10 K5 that should be a lot of fun! Stay tuned! That footage at the end looks great!! that terrain and foliage looks perfectly scaled to the truck.

Rig looks great ! I have Bob Ross driving mine, added Fusion Pro, inner fenders, 8274 RC4WD winch , tow hooks, and a stripe kit from Wild creek graphics to break up all the yellow. Really fun truck to work on and drive , thanks for the great video 👍

Awesome and thank you! Thinking a winch, jack, and tow ropes could be cool additions to this rig. Would like to try out a Fusion Pro for a project someday. Hear a lot of good things about that set up.

Thanks for the video. Very nice. Those wheels make a world of difference. Hope FMS takes notes.
@MakeItRC8 ай бұрын
Thank you! In their defense, I assume those wheels are just cheap off the shelf parts that help keep the overall cost down. In a way I'd rather them go cheap on the wheels/ties, which most people will swap out regardless on just about any RTR, then go cheap with the drivetrain, body, chassis, etc. Still though some better box stock wheels would make a huge difference to the appearance overall. They detract not add to the scale look of the rig IMO.

What an awesome job! You really took this rig to another level. Would love to see you go further! It looked like a 1:1 on some final shots! Love your videos! I do think drivers would be the cherry on top of your rigs. 😊 FMS really does make the best scale bodies. I have 2 of the smaller scale and they're great. Cheers from Portugal! 🇵🇹

Thank you! Yes a driver would look great in this rig. Very happy with it, especially after these mods. Already put quite a few miles on it since this video. Body is starting to get a bit of patina from the trails. 👍

What a great looking rig! Your mods have elevated it to ultra-scale. Well done. I also have those wheels and plan to design and print hub caps for a Chevy K10 2wd build. 👍😊

I don't think you'll be disappointed! They just need a little work to make them great. One of my favorite rigs from FMS. 👍

Great video/content... thank you for sharing. Did you use the stock tires or some others as @ 13:37 you mentioned "larger than stock tires"? Liked and subsribed!

Really great video, love the subtle improvements that all add up to a superb scale truck 👍😀 I buy and modify much cheaper trail trucks, and I like that everything done here can apply to those too.

I have the leaf spring kit for the Mashigan but I may have to use it on one of these instead.

Nice. I was tempted to install one but I like the stock bouncy suspension. It's cool that FMS offers a leaf spring suspension option.

Some of those trees looks scale, great trail spot. Defiantly do the fusion pro, its the best thing to happen to the Redcat Ascent.

Yes I love filming at Oakes. Great place for both trail trucks and crawlers.
@arni78108 ай бұрын
Awesome!! But does it come with the battery? If not, what battery type size does it need?😮
@MakeItRC8 ай бұрын
Thanks! A battery is not included. The stock ESC accepts both 2S and 3S LiPo batteries. A variety of sizes will work, however there isn't any battery strap included so you may need to install your own battery strap, Velcro, etc. to keep the battery in place. I've found standard size hard pack LiPos like are commonly used with other 10th scale crawlers to be too large, but others have said they'll fit. Seems like you'd really have to jam them in there. I've exclusively used "shorty" packs or smaller size batteries with this truck which are no problem to fit.

lol There's a ghost driving. At some point I'll probably get some figures for these more scale rigs.

The first non electronic thing that really needs changing is the front axle needs to be moved forward slightly like it is on the real one. Where it is now is slightly behind where Icon4x4 put theirs. Not even RC4WD gets it right. Idk what size shaft or links I’d need to buy in order to make it happen but this is something I just can’t unsee. One thing I adore about the brand’s WW2 jeeps is they get the axle placement exactly right. Please advise. I’m new to the hobby
@MakeItRC6 ай бұрын
Would have to measure the front 4 links and then try to find or make a set that is slightly longer. I don't think the ones they install on the truck are adjustable. Not sure how hard it would be to source links that are just slightly longer, but that would be the easiest option I can think of. I don't think there would be issues with the steering arm or driveshaft if you're only moving the axle forward a few mm.

I would add a scale articulated figure, and cut out the door side windows 🤙. It would boost it in looks 👌
@MakeItRC8 ай бұрын
Yes, I think a figure would look great for some of these trucks. I know nothing about them or were a good spot to get them would be but I'm sure I can make it happen at some point. 👍

@@MakeItRCI had one a couple years ago, and I had loaded it with: 2 scale figures, scale accessories, made a mt. bike rack with one in rear, many other stuff 🤔. Sold it for $275 had no place to crawl with it 👎
