Best video on this channel in a while - very, very cool. Amazing to see your honesty, and process. Interesting in particular for me to think about how getting the two sequences to alternate in a DAW would have taken 5s, but so much little glitchy interest is taking place as the clocks don't quite trigger the switches in the rene and morphagene precisely. Beautiful music and mind-expanding ideas - so grateful for your time and efforts on these. Please keep it up.

This was so great! One of your best videos yet. Please please please do more! I personally found this to be one of the most informative patching videos in your extensive library. Would even love to see the entire MN team as well. Infinite possibilities! So inspired to go patch now! Thank you, Walker!

I’ve been loving this kind of loop recently too. Just working towards one satisfying phrase Is so worthwhile. When you strike the balance it’s like the sun cutting through the clouds. Thanks for doing this in real-time. It’s always the most inspiring to see a real world idea take shape

Ahh, thank you, for not cutting after every sentence.. it kinda got to me in the previous ones, great editing in this one. Also really loved this format, the reconstruction and patch-notes, and such a wonderful piece you made.. looking forward to the next one!

Not only is this a beautiful sounding patch, it is so helpful to see and understand how it is set up. It was particularly helpful to see how you programmed the sequence from the access page by turning on just a few notes of the sequence to tune them. Also helpful was to see how you changed your approach to get the same result - ending up switching between two states with the x gates off in one and y gates off in the other. I wouldn’t have thought of that:) Thanks, that was fun to watch!

I love the concept not of a “patch sheet” but of a “patch concept sheet” instead. Melodies notwithstanding, a collection of patch concepts might lead to our own personal Allen Strange patch books. But in the same way passing around an instrument is generative, a patch book could inspire a series too-a “shared system patch book series” where different artists interpret patch concepts. Anyway, I loved the “what the heck” bubble and it’s nice to know synth lords like yourself get synth lord stumped from time to time. I agree, this was one of my favorite videos as well-and I’ve seen all of ‘em I think. Long form, shared system, patch from scratch, mistakes intact = 💰🙃✔️

So glad people are enjoying this one! It's funny, sometimes I finish a video, watch the result, and think "was this really such a good idea?" and can't really know the answer until it launches. Seems likely we'll do some more like this in the future! ⚡️

I have so many patches that I wish I wrote down in SOME capacity. Even a little description is enough to spark the memory of how I got there. I've got some recordings that when I listen to them, all I can think is "how the hell did I do that?" Document your patches, people! Seriously. With Love

Does it matter if the patch recreated doesn't match the original 100%? I'd dare to say, no. Creating something new - even if it is based on something earlier - seems to me more... not sure, if this is the right word... "important". Now that I've typed it down, I'm a bit hesitant. Maybe I should've wrote: "Important" is, what you think is important to you at that moment. Creating music is creating infinity - I think that's how it should be - but it's also about creating what you feel is right at this moment. Happy bleeping and blooping.
@MAKEN0ISEMUSIC2 жыл бұрын
I will almost always agree with you here! Many times patches are based on collections of conditions, and the resulting melodies when recorded are not conducive to re-creation in that way. Creating something anew from similar conditions will often capture the spirit better than an attempted "accurate" re-presentation. It was a fun exercise though!!
