Why am i surprised this worked? I've had so much trouble syncing with Ableton in the past and Maths made it happen ...thanks Walker

Cant believe i hadn't thought of this. Just tried it with a function module and the digital performer metronome, had to add a little gain to the output but it worked well. Great tip!

Wow! This works. So simple and it saved me some money. I may need another Maths though....

hahaha this will save you some money too

I'm using Bastl Klik to send the clicks but the recording comes back not on the beat and I can't figure out how to fix it with the latency in ableton. Help??
@MrChibamusic11 жыл бұрын
awesome!!! is this possible with the older version of the maths as well?

Yes!

On a shared system with cv, could you just send the metronome to the input on the left side of the cv? Would you then hear the click through the Shared System?
@MAKEN0ISEMUSIC9 жыл бұрын
Kim Reza Lyshaug You could do that but it is not usually necessary.

Which interface are you using? More specifically, could I do this with a cheap interface that only has 1/4" outs?
@tonyrolando538511 жыл бұрын
Yes, you'll just need a 1/4" to 1/8" adapter of some sort.

Im using Native Instruments Komplete Audio 6 interface audio output to Function module, but don't get this working. :( There is only 1/4 outs, so Im using an adapter.

im using Universal Audio's Apollo Interface, i dont think its working for some reason when i plug the output into my clock input for my monome White Whale module the response LED just stops. further help or a contact email would be much appreciated.

0neTwo0neTwo Have you tried it with any modules other than the White Whale? Please e-mail technical@makenoisemusic.com if you keep having trouble and we will help you figure it out.

MAKEN0ISE amazing video! I am just about to that! how do you connect ableton to the modular so that they sync up? I bought a midi to cv module for that purpose? DO I need to send trigger pulses to make them sync up or is that not necessary? Thanks for your help if I can do this I will be the happiest man alive!!
@MAKEN0ISEMUSIC10 жыл бұрын
This video shows a metronome/click track being sent out a free output of an audio interface, but with a MIDI/CV converter you should be able to create gates of the type a modular synth expects, without any need to process with MATHS.

MAKEN0ISE thanks for the reply, I've now followed your instruction here but used this Cv trigger plug in that someone made for max for live. Also I am using an RME fire face 802 audio interface.THere I selected output channel 3/4 that was free to send the click noise signal into the maths. Yet it still does not clock the maths properly. Sound is very dim at best and not clocked at all. I've also selected in the ableton preferences the channel 3/4 out so that there is a signal that go out and routed the midi channel with the cv trigger into channel 3/4. I am using normal patchable that I have attached to a stereo adapter and plugged into channel 3. i am not sure but there is definitely something that I am not doing right.. Thanks also for the kind help, I will be very happy when I managed to finally clock everything together.

Arthur Hortolomei Hello, not sure what sort of singnal the plugin is sending, but the RME Fireface does not have DC-Coupled outputs except on its headphone jack. First please confirm that audio is indeed being routed to those outputs by sending them to some sort of monitoring system and listening. Then you should try sending a full-amplitude short audio signal such as a metronome click and see if that works. We have a short pulse hosted on our website that should work if you have no luck: www.makenoisemusic.com/manuals/modular-pulse.WAV Please note that some adjustment of the Rise and Fall times on MATHS is likely to be necessary.

Hi could you put the click track straight into the Rene x clk or y clk ?
@MAKEN0ISEMUSIC9 жыл бұрын
neil mcmeechan Since the metronome is an audio file, it contains lots of Zero Crossings that would probably make the René clock many times per pulse. We made this video in response to someone who had specifically asked about clocking from a DAW metronome. Here's a pulse sample that could let you skip the MATHS processing: www.makenoisemusic.com/manuals/modular-pulse.WAV Just amplify as much as you can in your DAW and send straight to clock input.

MAKEN0ISE Thanks do I just record this or is it downloadable.
@MAKEN0ISEMUSIC9 жыл бұрын
neil mcmeechan You could download and load the file into an Ableton Simpler or similar sampler plug, then boost the output gain to max and write a MIDI track with pulses at whatever time division you prefer. With this method you also could write or record a trigger sequence, no need for it to be a steady clock.

MAKEN0ISE Cheers hate to be stupid how do I download it when I click the link it plays but nowhere to download ?
@MAKEN0ISEMUSIC9 жыл бұрын
Right click (or Control-click on Mac) on the link address and click Save As, then put it in your choice of folder.

this work for Cubase too?
@MAKEN0ISEMUSIC10 жыл бұрын
Yes. It will work with any recording or sequencing software. What you need is a spare/ unused output channel on your audio-interface.

Is this also possible with the function module?

Yes!

Juste que je ne parle pas anglais, et que je ne vois pas où sont branchés les patchs, donc inutilisable.

Hmm I not 100% sure why not just play a click (a square) every 1/16 and and use that signal as clock, that's what I do and it works. I would hate to take up one channel on my Maths for just clocking duty :)
@MAKEN0ISEMUSIC9 жыл бұрын
Hirsbrochannel Sure, you could do that. We made this video in response to someone who had specifically asked about clocking from a DAW metronome. Here's a pulse sample that could let you skip the MATHS processing: www.makenoisemusic.com/manuals/modular-pulse.WAV
