What a great build! I have a 7 year old and love doing projects with her. That deadblow mallet is a beast.

Nice job you guys and it was good to see your son getting involved in a project like this! I started my StewMac Tenor today after watching a few videos. I've done a lot of finish work in houses and my shop so I'm used to gluing up things. One shortcut I took for the body braces inside the uke was instead of using tape to outline the braces and spreading the glue, I just ran a line of glue on the underside of the braces, evened it out with a Q-Tip and then applied it to the penciled outline. I then pressed the brace down, clamped it, and with a damp Q-Tip, cleaned up the glue squeeze out and wiped it again with another dry Q-Tip. I couldn't find enough rubber bands to give my clothes pins extra clamping power so I took another clothes pin and clamped it just forward of the middle of the spring, it seemed to work fine. So just a couple of tips and the glue trick shouldn't be attempted on the finished side, in those spots, I will use painters tape like in your excellent video.

Thanks! You should definitely get one! They are a lot of fun to build. They have all kinds of kits if you are feeling ambitious.

Nice job. There’s no link to the Paolini Pocket Rule that you use to mark the neck dowels. I can really use that!

Thank you! Yes, I love my Paolini pocket rule! I added an amazon link to the description for a 3 pack of rules. You can get an individual rule directly from Woodpeckers at woodpeck.com which is a lot more cost effective. Do you make instruments?

@@MakerBeach Sorry for two identical comments, I didn’t think the first one uploaded properly. Thank you! Yes, I’ve built two of the SM Tenor kits as gifts. I was a little disappointed with the string spacing on the bridge, but otherwise was pleased. I am currently building one of their cutaway tenor kits, and ordered their deluxe uke bridge to make my own spacing. Thanks and Aloha from Hawaii, Terry

Wow that's great! On mine I wanted a low G tuning so I put on new strings and was amazed at the difference. Do you know if anyone sells pre-made uke necks? I really want to make a uke body on my own but I'd rather have a pre-made neck than try to do it on my own. There are few on ebay but not sure of the quality. Thanks again for watching and commenting!

@@MakerBeach I don’t know of any prefabricated necks, and I share your concerns over the eBay ones. I subscribed to your channel. Looking forward to more videos from you and your son! Aloha, Terry

Thanks for the sub Terry! I've got a new video coming out tomorrow morning actually. It has nothing to do with building instruments but if you have a CNC you might find it helpful. 😉
