Ever since I bought the Aldi workzone bandsaw I wanted to make a vertical stand for it. (like all the cool kids have)
This is the simplest thing I could come up with that provided a good solid base whilst also being super easy to setup and tear down.
the whole thing took less than 1.5m of 25mm box section.
the final setup is here: • Aldi workzone bandsaw ...
And a fix for the supplied vice: • Rubbish vice - Simple ...
I uploaded my stl file for the handle 'puck' to thingiverse:
www.thingivers...
this identical machine was later sold by Aldi under the Scheppach brand

Fix position of the rubber on the drive wheel. Btw. it's a nice and clever stand for this bandsaw. I have got another clone of this tool.

It has taken me 4 months to unpack my Aldi bandsaw, but I finally got round to it yesterday. Today I 3D printed the handle puck, and welded a stand (I includes a triangle base as my vice is a bit puny). Works brilliantly, than you so much.

You're welcome. Glad it was useful. It's a great little tool. I still use mine a lot.

Was undecided about buying this bandsaw - as I wanted a small vertical set-up for sizing/shaping metal stock (e.g. scrap) before machining. Your stand is a clever design and stores easily. Thank you very much - Aldi just got an order from me too... IanT

Great idea! Last week I bought the identical Scheppach MBS1100. I'll use the time to delivery to print the 3d parts 😉👍🏼

I just got the machine and this vertical stand is excactly what i want. So i am very happy you made a video about it. I probably want a switch directly on the machine, so i can use gravity for cutting something that takes longer. I really dont want press the button all the time.

Yeah, I made this www.thingiverse.com/thing:3353689 for holding the switch on. Then plugged the machine into a regular locking on machine switch.

For the same saw I made a similar vertical stand. Does not require tools for mounting or nuts and bolts. I use the original base to hold the vertical stand or as an anchor point, not a vise. Gravity act as a clamping force.... It works.

I have just started metalwork. Your video is an inspiration and I have just ordered the Aldi bandsaw. Your welding looks great to me, I hope that one day I can do it without a load of splatter. At the moment I can't even keep my weld in the right place, it seems to drift away from the intended line!

It's a great little bandsaw. Though I've abused mine to the point I've broken one of the rubber tires and I can't find a replacement option in the UK. Everything comes from the states and costs about half the price of the whole machine. Going to have to get creative :-) as for welding. I'd highly recommend getting set up with shielding gas. With proper gas nothing splatters, and the lack of splatter makes it easier to see what's going on and keep things on track. Also I found a good helmet makes a difference, getting it dialed in for the right light levels makes it easier to see what you're doing. Good luck!

Great idea. A foot switch might be even safer. PS I've just bought the same machine and yes I'm extremely pleased with it. I need to cut a fair bit of 25mm mild and stainless bar and it does this perfectly. I'm sure I'll try to make a vertical jig very soon too.

What a brilliant idea. On the strength of your videos I will order one of these bandsaws. You should be on a commission 👍😀

Nice solution! I built a stand for my portable band saw as well. I use a big spring clamp to keep the power/trigger switch engaged.

Ha, interesting, I didn't think of a regular clamp. I'm designing a custom printed part that will close around the trigger and pin lock closed :-/

Brilliant jig!.. Instead of installing a switch i use a remote switch. I made a wristband and stick the remote controller on it with velcro ..😇

That's a very good idea. I might modify it for those (for example me) who do not have a 3D printer. Out of interest, how did you find it for cutting box section in the stand provided? On thicker box section I could not get the Lidl one to cut straight though it will free hand.
@MakerGeek
@MakerGeek 3 жыл бұрын
I think I only really used the provided stand on a couple of smaller pieces just too test it. In reality, for bigger stuff I found it easier/faster to use free hand than to set up the stand and position the steel in it. Sadly recently one of the tires pulled off and snapped and I've still not found a replacement that doesn't cost 1/3rd the original price of the whole machine :-/

@@MakerGeek Hmmm.... I've just replaced the tyres on my Clarke bandsaw and although they were not quite wide enough they work and didn't cost a fortune. Try here: www.solenttools.co.uk/parts-by-brand/aldi.html

@@BensWorkshop are those just flat tires or do the have the notches in?. Cheers for the link, I couldn't spot anything for the workzone bandsaw. I think it takes the same tires as the DeWalt portaband. Currently scheppach sell their branded version of the identical machine to mine. But all the sellers of the tires are in the US. Shipping plus import duty etc. I keep thinking I'll try some random flat tire in case I can get it to stay in place.

good idea im going to try this. i just got the scheppach band saw from aldi. it was £120 and it looks like the same model under a different name I might be wrong. I don't suppose you still have the 3d printing file you made for this? is it on thingiverse. im not good at fusion 360 but I have a printer

@MakerGeek 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Thomas, yep the design is in thingiverse. www.thingiverse.com/thing:3337735 I'm makergeek there also. You should also be able to find the design for the trigger lock. I'm pretty sure that scheppach is exactly the same machine. I believe there is a German company that manufactures thre machines white-label and scheppach is one of a few brands that resells them

Sorry, I'm not really in the business of selling parts. I have so little time as it is to work on my own projects. However, I did upload the design to thingiverse. So if you can find anyone with a 3d printer near you they will be able to download the file and print it. www.thingiverse.com/thing:3337735

It's a fair point, and is actually something I've tried to be much better at. you'll see in recent videos I'm generally wearing safety classes, and even occasionally calling them out when I'm off screen but using the table saw etc. A couple of months ago I realised that the ones I had were a little uncomfortable, and a little clouded which meant I kept taking them off between operations and having to remember to put them back on. So I made a point to find a comfortable new pair which I tend to just leave on all the time.
