Hi and greetings from Finland! You give so many ideas to put to use. Been planning what low power consumption display could show electricity prices with other useful info and these displays could be just the thing. Thank you for your video!

Hi, for your purposes, a small display might also work out fine. But I think the advantage with a long one like this is, you can show many different type of data in one display, and it wont look bloated..

Very nice script! I use Arduino IDE. Am not so good with with other programs to flash these stuff. Anyways, you are a very talented man. Thanks for sharing this video.

@johnny, thanks for your kind words. I literally used the Arduino framework for this. In fact you can even use the Arduino IDE to compile and program if it is what you prefer. The main advantage of the PlatformIO is, you do not need to install the toolchains, and the libraries manually, and it does all that for you.

IMO, the shtick of e-ink displays being their ability to display (static) content without power, this device should have had some kind of onboard energy harvesting and storage, combined with an ultra low power sleep-mode. Sure you can use usb for programming and media-upload and all, but not for the daily grunt-work, the power ought to be harvested "cables-free". What could be done with such a stand-alone artefact? - Calendar - Upcoming weather trends - ?? what else? - most other gadget-geek ideas like "house plant last-watered date" sound terribly shallow. Nevertheless, I'm up for Lidl selling their old BWR displays - perhaps under a "parkside" name or sth :)

I think harvesting energy is a great idea, and I want to investigate it further. I don't like charging devices frequently, so not having to charge at all would be the best. For the Lidl displays, I am particularly interested in the A4-sized version. It would be really cool to read PDFs and similar content on such a device. :)

8:15 because of the aliasing, it really does not look good - what is the problem, are the fonts not pixel-perfect, or what kind of scaling is going on?

I was experimenting with random fonts that I found on the internet. Some looked good on the monitor, but not on the display i guess.

Hi, I think finnhub.io is what you are looking for.

Sorry to hear your 3d printer died. Abs is best printed with an enclosed 3d printer for temperature control

Thanks. I learned this simple trick quite late unfortunately.

are there more ESP32 based display's like this with controls, a case with proper protective layer on the screen?
@makersfunduck4 күн бұрын
There are quite a few products like that. Even with the touch screen. But I had never seen a long display like this one before.

Some printer company will send you a new printer in a heartbeat for sure😂😂

Well, I am not so sure about that, since my channel is very small :)
