This video just made me demoralized. Dont get me wrong, the content is amazing, and you guys have done an amazing job backing your words with data. But truth be told, the amount of stuff you have to do just to get an interview is absolutely insane, especially for me. I am an introvert and communicating with random people off linkedin feels wrong to me and I have anxiety to do that. The fact that I have to basically stalk people for a referral is extremely demoralizing and mentally exhausting. I know people might thing whats the big deal, but its extremely demoralizing for a person with anxiety. I have worked in a corporate environment before as internship and temporary work, and I have done well, its just the process of finding job thats an absolute nightmare for me. I am just rambling at point, if anyone can give me suggestions I would appreciate it.

I disagree that Canadians do not want to work the low skill jobs but do agree that the issue usually revolves around pay. The blunt truth is that the pay is too low to survive on in this economy. If the pay is minimum wage, $15-$16 / hour depending on province, but your rent is $1500 - $2000 a month, that alone is unsustainable. So you might say, well you need to get a second part-time job then! And I would agree, but the problem is that scheduling can be all over the place. One week you might be working 8 AM - 4 PM at one job, and then the next week they want you to work 1 PM - 9 PM, which makes it hard to schedule hours for your second job.

If you’ve done billion applications, we would assume you’ve mass applied to jobs which is not a good strategy. Recruiters can smell a generic application in the first second of looking at the resume and reject it immediately. Consider a more strategic approach. @MakeThatChange When economy was good or booming strategy you talk about was never the issue and job offer was in place within 2 weeks. There is no need to mention that nowadays, we can track how many applicants' job posting has. If you have 1000+ applicants per job posting, of course, not all 1000+ resumes will be seen, and that speaks about having more people than created jobs. In such a situation, social networking is the key, but not everyone has that option. Also, it would be fair to talk about the job freeze during hyperinflation Canada faces and stats such as Canada losing 3400 full-time jobs this June 2024. Who knows how many before that. Government stats in province I live showing in fact unemployment rate over 15% as per the employment and income support department, and that does not include part-time employers.Every 3rd private business is shutting down where I live, etc . The economy is down due to hyperinflation, and jobless situations are the outcome

Canada has less jobs vs the amount of people who live in it. This happens with full time hours being covered by part time employees counting as full time employed in census. Also if you are out of work you basically don't count as unemployed after like 4 minutes of being unemployed. Hi, thanks for sharing your valuable information. Have you covered the topic of the black market regarding LMIAs for the TFWP? Look at the LMIA positive lists and see how many of these employers are posted there. Those are the positions advertised on social media as "pre approved LMIA"( light duty cleaner, administrative, bookkeeping). The federal government is not auditing these unethical employers because there is a lot of money involved even though the PM stated it is illegal to charge money to an applicant to get a job or sponsorship.

Again I ask, WHO is Canada for, if it's not for the people doing their best to eke out simple, happy lives? Should these people have to fight tooth and nail for a glimmer of happiness beyond a struggle completely outside of their control, a struggle MANUFACTURED by corporations that only see them as a statistic in an excel document? A Canada that isn't a place where anyone can settle down and live happily, have disagreements with their neighbours but still drink a beer with them over hockey, is a Canada for the dead and the heartless.

Also, open 10-20 listings of positions you apply to, find most common requirements, set up one or more ATS checker accounts and optimize your resume as high as you can with the requirements you found and tips from ATS tools (most are free). I applied for half a year with no luck, got 3 offers in 2 weeks after doing that, ATS is really bizarre these days.

The Unemployment Number is Usually about Double whatever the Official Number is listed as. Example , in Toronto it states 7.8% unemployment rate = closer to 15.6% This is because they are including "All of the Population " ( 39 million approx. ) of the Country .i.e. Canada, ... in the Calculation as the Total people that are Employable. And that is Inaccurate and Deceptive. Certain Demographics are Not part of the Employable population ,.i.e. >> Retired sick Seniors, Infants, Children up to age 13 , ...etc. Therefore, the " total Employable population "of a Country .i.e. Canada is Actually far LOWER ( than 39 million approx. ) ; thus the Official Percentage of Unemployed is Or would be Actually much higher than originally stated Unemployment rate.

Also if you have 3 jobs (full-time + part-time side gig) and other 2 folks don't have any job then the unemployment rate is 1- 3/3 = 0% since they double counted people in the labor market if you have multiple jobs. Also, if you are jobless for more than 6 months then you are not actively seeking for jobs, which decrease the denominator even more.

I got a job in the oil industry in Alberta from Mexico, I spent months applying to dozens of companies that didn't answer back, but I never gave up, I was open to any possibility and I ended up in a small city working as truck driver. Once I get my permanent residency we'll to move to a bigger city to start a business, I'm always looking for opportunities and there are many in this country, we only need some networking, resilience and persistence, but I've noticed that many locals aren't open to new challenges, many of them don't want to leave their comfort zone even if it's bad.

Canada is a mess! With a 2.7% yearly increase in population, 6.8% CPI inflation and 6.1% unemployment rate, it’s clearly gone off the rails with immigration. Roughly 23% of the total Canadian population is classified as being an immigrant. This figure is statistically significant, which is one of the main drivers causing native born job seekers to struggle. In 2021, India alone accounted for 18.6% of immigrants as the total number of immigrants ballooned from 226,314 (2020-2021) to 493,236 (2021-2022). As noted by Economist George Borjas; “a 10 percent increase in supply reduces wages by 3 to 4 percent”. Not only are the job vacancies decreasing, relative to CPI, wages paid are less than what they were years prior. Coupled with a slowing global economy, Canada’s blatant negligence in controlling immigration is artificially (non-natural births) causing job seekers (supply) to fight for a finite or reduced position openings (demand). Easing pressure on demand by increasing supply is not a long-term strategy for success. Canada has to scale back immigration rates to below the 2020-2021 levels for 2025-2026 to combat a growing unemployment figure of 6.1%. Job vacancies at 648,640 are (June 2024) are shrinking and will continue to do so as the global economy slows.

The 23% immigrant figure is not new. It’s decades in the making. Look beyond immigration if you want to get to the root cause of all problems. It’s the policies and decisions 30 years ago that are finally showing their true colors. The current global economic climate and the pandemic have exposed the issues that immigration successfully masked for decades. Remove immigration and you just treat a symptom. We have to look deeper than that.

@dougmiller6326 - The 2023 growth rate in Canada was 3.2% (See Reuters - Canada clocks fastest population growth in 66 years in 2023 ). The US growth rate in 2023 - which includes illegal immigration - was 0.5% (i.e. Canada grew 6.4 times faster than the US). Canadian GDP has been dropping for years on account of a lack of R&D investment (google is your friend here). Our oldest son has already left the country for better economic (and cultural) prospects. We've got 2 others working on engineering degrees who will likely be in the USA after they graduate (they're dual citizens). Nova Scotia's per capita GDP (where I live) was lower than Mississippi. Most of the economic activity is tied back to all the tall buildings they're erecting throughout the region. To claim this is all due to long standing issues that have nothing to do with mass immigration is a position that I simply disagree with. This said, Canada lags behind the rest of the West in R&D investment which has a major impact on per capita earnings and job growth. So in this sense our hosts here (i.e., this channel) are correct in saying that it's more complex than mass immigration. But mass immigration is absolutely the central issue and is destroying the country - literally. (There's a whole environmental component on top of this.) Canada drives GDP with a real estate sector supercharged by mass immigration, and by digging things out of the ground selling it to the Chinese and Americans. Canada is a super strange country with this intellectually deficient attachment to faux multi-culturalism.

This winter I was sick with bronchitis, a paralyzed foot and half blind in one eye, due to diabetes. I was deneied medical EI. I applied to 3,500 jobs and burned through all $10K of my savings. They define an unemployed individual in a funny way, but there are probably 10 times more people underemployed and stuck in survival jobs, those are also technically job seekers even if they didn't apply for the last 4 weeks because they were exhausted by working that job that's not what they studied for and taking care of kids and whatnot. From a person who "made it here" - I advise you not to come here unless you are very wealthy and want to be bored out of your mind. You will struggle for years before you have a chance and it is not worth it (waste your youth) - faceless grey towns with no character, no variety in stores, low quality, non-productive jobs (i.e. paper pushing if you ever get one that is), tasteless food, sky high rents and bad weather. I would go back to Europe in heartbeat if I had the opportunity. The makers of the videos are just collecting youtube $$$ from your views and leading people astray. I think University of Toronto is the most reputable university in Canada. I have a degree from university of Toronto but I am still working a minimum wage job. Haven't had a decent job since COVID! There have been times when I couldn't even find a minimum wage job. Especially the easy ones like customer service or retail stores and restaurants. Looks like I'm condemned to spend the rest of my life working in factories. This isn't something I'm good at and hence find it really hard to keep up with the demands of these labour jobs; and eventually I get fired or laid off. And have to start the vicious cycle once again.

I don't know where you live in Canada, but move! Jobs are available everywhere to anyone wanting to work. You can be hired without experience and resume or job interview! The only thing you need to prove is that you can work and you have the right to work in the country. Once you can prove this you an go make your grocery and getting out of there with as a new manager!

In the last 10 years I have been the one who trains new people at the companies I work for. I have seriously noticed that the more time goes on, the hires are less and less capable and willing to do any work. The work ethic in most people is, to put it lightly, pathetic. I never again want to train unskilled people ever again. I couldn't believe how angry people get when asked to do their job. When a boss asks workers to do their job they complain they being bullied. When you try and train workers and tell them the way they are doing things is not correct, they complain they are being bullied. When you explain to them they don't listen. I used to do very heavy labor and gravel work. I think I trained over 30 people, and not one of them stuck around. I understand now why companies put so much time into figuring out why not to hire people, and are so picky. I wasted so much time training people, that where nothing but a drain on the company and a waste of everyone's time. The sad fact is how no companies are willing to train people because the problems I just explained. There for, if you do not have EXACTLY the skill set needed, they will not deal with you. If they have to train you at all, HARD NOPE. Now on, if any company ever asks me to train new people I will either demand double my pay or refuse to do it.

The Education system are also fraught with these same Bias Affirmative action / Diversity Equity Inclusion ( DEI ) programs for Scholarships, Entry availability placements into University & College programs, Grants, and other related Opportunities. So if you're of the Caucasian persuasion , especially male, then you're Silently Considered as outside the DEI / minority Demographics of job candidates and a last choice for Hirees or placement Opportunities for higher Education.

In Canada, laws should be changed so that employers cannot terminate an employee without a strong reason. It is already very difficult to find a job here. You are not entitled to much under Employment Standards Act upon losing your job wrongfully so that needs to be changed too. At-will employment works in the US where salaries are high and jobs are abundant but not in Canada.

have travelled the World, and have yet to see a more bureaucratic Country than Canada. There's a housing shortage... But, my friends in the housing development sector there inform that the process of getting Zoning for new developments is a very lengthy & extremely expensive process. So how the hell will be developments come from? Yet what is the Govt's answer... INSTEAD OF INCREASING HOUSING, THEY DECIDED TO REDUCE THE NUMBERS of foreign students! ...Losing 4 billion $$ in the bargain in students' fees alone! International investments in housing instead of being encouraged with new developments (while protecting Canadian Citizens with "for Canadian Citizens only" protected housing) were stopped from investing! 😱 I have yet to see a Govt more enthusiastic about reducing wealth coming into the Country!

Mass immigration is taking a lot of jobs, that's a fact. I worked for many large companies in Canada, all the best ones and at least 3/10 coworkers were new immigrants, since 2015. Now it's closer to 5/10. Corporations are greedy, including Canada's big banks, who want to keep earnings growing by outsourcing labour. I had one coworker who was a software developer who was being treated as a slave. I said why not quit, but she said she couldn't because she would lose her work visa.
