Do you brush your brows up or down before you fill them in? Here’s a trick I picked up from ‪@Makeupbynikkilarose‬ (obviously!). I brush my brows down now first. It shows you exactly where your brows need to be filled in.

I’m a makeup artist and I swear by this technique. The top is what frames the face. Try doing it that way on one side and compare it to the unfilled brow after. It looks like the unfille side is droopy. That’s because filling the top lifts the eye area up.
@kylie8676
@kylie8676 2 жыл бұрын
You need to do both. Brush down and fill in. Then brush up and fill in. Defining the part of your brow that most closely frames your eye is very effective at creating a polished finished look.

Well your technique isn’t good! U should always brush down and fill. And then brush up and frame them. Then highlight. I am a MUA! U get the most fill doing it that way. And always draw thin strokes on the inner parts upwards. Not to the side.
@arabicempress

@@naughtiasteffano9885 sorry that technique doesn't work for everyone. Everyone has different eyebrows, while many will have full eyebrows others will have very sparse hair and even then it might be more sparse either on the bottom or top, so according to each ones eyebrows we fill in differently. Just like we position our blush, do our lipstick, eyebrows etc there's no right or wrong way. It just depends on each person.

@@sarahrochellexo first of all HER pronouns are she/her thus when you are referring to her as a WOMAN you would say "that girl" (I don't need a closed minded response on why you can't substitute a simple word that makes someone happy because it hinders your freedom or something along those lines by the way, but if you genuinely didn't know, then now you do. Second of all, she does not do "drag makeup" I'm not entirely sure you know what drag makeup is, she does a full face of makeup more commonly referred to as "glam" not drag. Drag makeup is about big colorful shapes that are easily identifiable from far away (you must be extremely skilled to do a good drag if you didn't know as well) and in my opinion a beautiful representation of one's true personality (nevertheless, there is a big difference between glam and drag, given the fact that not all trans people do drag and vice versa). Third of all, this person stated that they liked Nikki Tutorials and that they learned a very good tip from her (she is one of the most talented makeup artists out there), so I don't see why you had to come in here with your negative opinion and bring an entire comment section down. No one asked, and you'd be right to say they don't have to but, explain to me why it makes sense for someone to mention they like something and for someone else to stop and go "well, I don't like said thing and I have a very negative opinion on said thing so I should insert my uneducated, unneeded, and overall poorly placed comment on an uplifting beauty channel......right.......here. 🤔🧐 Make it make sense??

Tbh I’m tired of differing makeup techniques being called “mistakes.” Since I essentially draw on the tail of my brow *above* the actual hairs, it would make no sense for me to brush the hairs down. By brushing them up, I can get a sense of where I want to map out my new eyebrow tail and blend the real hair with the ones I’ve just drawn on. Different strokes for different folks!

I brush up, line bottom, brush down, line top, but only on the tail ends. Brush through and smudge lines towards middle, fill in any patches. Looks natural. I then use a brow primer duo to keep my brow higher up and lifted, but not like a super messy soap brow way. Just up to give more arch cuz I have no eyelid space.

Even as a desi lady with thick, bushy brows that are dark (thank you, Indian genes), I find this technique really doesn’t work for me. I have to move my hairs around a bit in every direction before I can see where things need filling (I have a scar in the middle of one brow, for example), and it’s really helpful to put my brows in place where I want them before I finish filling them in.

It's absolutely not a "mistake" to brush your brows up before filling them in! It really depends on your own brow shape and how you want them to look. I just brush mine up using brow freeze or soap and fill them in where it's needed afterwards. Her technique in this videos makes the brows look way too blocky for my liking, but to each their own of course.

I switch between the two , I have hooded eyes and using the downward technique makes my eyes look even smaller and hooded and doesn’t leave much space for eyeshadow… but I only do that if I’m going for a look … most of the time I do the other brush up technique because it opens up my eyes and makes it look bigger … so it’s entirely dependent on your preference.
