You know what's funny? Despite watching all of your videos related to the body types, I still couldn't figure out which body type I am. However, this video opened my eyes. I've always wondered why bold lips and bold eyes at the same time look so heavy on me. When I was doing my makeup that way, I always wiped off the bright lipstick because I felt it was too much. I've also always wondered why I prefer brownish and more blended eye makeup... I always wanted to pull off a graphic black eyeliner but I always ended looking less feminine. Now I know I'm a Natural and I can't thank you enough for your hard work and especially for this video here. Thank you so so much! ❤️

I had the exact opposite. I was wondering if I lack any taste for thinking I look good with both quite bold lips and eyes. Nah, just a gamine :D

Did you write down all the answers you got for ‘the body type test’ ? I was confused about my body type at first until I wrote down all the answers I got for that Video. Same here! I could never pinpoint exactly my type, but I now finally believe that I am a soft classic. I've been a Gamine wannabe all my life, so it makes sense why the bolder makeup doesn't feel right.

@@bodyofhope I think it also depends on your coloring. I don't think very bold makeup would look that great on a gamine with muted tone hair and eyes for example.

This makes so much sense. I am a Soft Classic and I have noticed that if I wear too much makeup, or anything too dramatic, I look terrible. I always tell people that my face is just not suited for makeup beyond natural looks or "waking up" my features with mascara and neutral eyeshadow since I look super weird with heavy eyeliner or dramatic lips.

Can you do a video on Wedding Dresses for the body types? I see a lot of brides wearing similar dress types for their wedding and can’t help but wonder if a different style of dress would look better on them. I’m also getting married in the fall of 2020. So I wonder if certain dress types could influence the season in which to get married. For example, I have the body type of Audrey Hepburn with Kate Bosworth’s exact measurements. And I think for flamboyant gamines, short dresses look better on us. But is there a way to compromise between what looks best on us vs the season? Like, how would a flamboyant Gamine be able to wear a short dress in autumn? Is there a way to wear a long dress with long sleeves? Or would that look weird on us? Lol

But there were so many natural clothes in fashion boutiques, in magazines... and just the people around... Fashion for smokey eye makeup looks... And for me, who is a TR or closer to SD, finding out about this system - became so eye-opening.... Long brows, thick eyebrows, eyeliner, glamorous clothes, glitter... This is so interesting! I was so stuck between being a soft natural and a flamboyant natural, but I actually recognize myself more in the make up description of a flamboyant natural. I look awful in matte lipsticks. It makes me look older and sucks the life out of my face. I almost always wear a gloss or just a shiny lipstick. I naturally have bold brows, I look unbalanced when they are too thin. This is so interesting.

I'm a soft gamine with naturally red hair, so I'm not sure what my "signature" look should be, but I totally agree on mattes. As much as I love all things shiny, mattes just look so much better on me.
@Ayaforshort5 жыл бұрын
I'm a soft classic and I absolutely agree with this. When I tried doing _"youtube/Instagram makeup"_ I always looked terrible with all the concealer and contouring. I look way better with light foundation to just even up my complexion. And I like to use an illuminating primer instead of highlighter so I look glowy. A bit of blush on my cheeks. Then mascara. Clear brow gel. And a blotted lipstick. So my lips have some natural looking color. Optional: I like using a shimmery brown eyeshadow just to add some depth to my eyes if I have time. And a bit of black liner on top and tight lining to make my lashes look fuller. On the bottom I also use mascara and a nude or white liner to make my eyes look a bit bigger. After all that I barely look like I have anything on. And I don't really. Primer- Smashbox Foundation- Fenty Blush- Colourpop Mascara(waterproof) - Drugstore Brow Gel- Drugstore Soft Matte Liquid Lipstick- Nyx Eyeshadow- COLOURPOP!! Eyeliner(waterproof) X2- Mac, Stila Setting spray- Urban Decay What's cool about being a classic category is that since you look better with less it's in your best interest to make sure that the items you do need to get are good quality.

Hi Aly, i love your videos on the body types - so informative and seems to make so much sense to me....i now understand what i think i subconsciously knew about my style all along - i am a soft classic. Personally what i would love is if you could make a video describing some fashion brands which represent each body type....personally i struggle to find classic style clothing in a fast fashion modern age, so if there were certain brands or stores where you can find these clothes more easily, that would be so helpful! Спасибо, Аленушка! I rewatch this video. A few year ago I got really into eye makeup, stated collecting pictures, wanted to master eye makeup looks, explore eye makeup, didn't know much about it, only practiced wing eyeliner since high school... I just collected makeup looks for the color type and some similarity with my looks in many cases I have always liked complex sophisticated makeup looks, like smokey eyes created in different palettes - like those girls we see in magazines growing up. Like the goal of makeup, "real makeup" of what it can be, as it seemed to us. But I'm most likely a theatrical romantic, at least, it suits me so well. I found my looks can't pull off grunge - dark, even not heavy smokey eye makeup looks very well, even rather slight, it is not my energy... I went back to liner again, long wings... I found light shimmery colors are so food for me. And I just like colorful eye makeup looks without dark colors in general - like pinkish, very light purple, with the liner. I think glitters suit such looks very well. I think they suit all the relative types of looks - like soft dramatic, soft gamine

Nice video, of course :) I would like to just add - for whole classic family and I think this also works for natural types - our make-up looks the best if it is dewy, so with that natural glow, not shimmery, glossy nor super matte. For evening look we can use little bit more contrast - more matte base and pearl eyeshadow (because of different light), but it should be balanced and definetely lips should keep that natural glow (even if they are red). :) In general we look great with light, natural make-up, if it is heavy it ages us.

Love these body type videos! I am soft classic and what you said about that type is absolutely correct for me. I do the sculpting along my cheek bone and you're right - it just looks muddy! I have high prominent cheekbones and always considered them one of my best features, hence the sculpting to draw attention. Realistically though it doesn't work as you've pointed out Aly - what else can I do to emphasise? TIA.

I always wondered why makeup doesn't look flattering on me. Why it always makes me look like a vamp. Now I think I know why, thanks to you! 😌

Thank you Aly so much, love you channel. the body type series is been so helpful for me. now I know what and how to shop, and make up. I prefer matte lips, just because they last longer. If I find a glittery one that lasts longer, I would consider it. Greetings from Chile!

I so love your videos about this subject! But Since you started talking about David Kibbe’s book, prices have gone through the ceiling... it’s two till ten times more expensive now then it was a couple of months ago. I hope there will be a reprint, because it’s completely out my budget now😕

Yass! This video came while I happened to be doing my makeup. :) I made a couple of adjustments, right away and am liking the results. I've been reflecting on your Kim K video and I'm wondering, since theatrical romantic is what she is going for, if, as a theatrical romantic, I should take inspiration from her look (?). Though, I can't get behind the Instagram brow, haha!

Oh, I like your last point about judging the makeup trends on their faces. I brought up Kim K because I feel that she is known for a lot of the makeup trends, including the "chiseled cheeks" that Aly brings up.

Love your videos 💕 you always give practical advice, and I really appreciate your aesthetic. Please advise me, I am a dramatic classic. I have dark shadows under my eyes, not just skin discoloration, but deep hollows under my eyes. What can I do make up wise to camouflage it? Thank you for the awesome content. Much love from South Africa🇿🇦💕

Thank you so much for this 💕, i've sticked to mascara and lip tints since it's what i like to use but sometimes i would like to use makeup without looking old or tired
