I totally agree with you they should have more sizes and be more inclusive. I feel sometimes that the local shops do a better job of carrying more sizes than the designer labels.

I love the fact that both Monica and Chris will be celebrated at the wedding and we can see it throughout their journey so far. I know traditionally is a big day for the bride and sometimes that translates to trying to control everything, so it's refreshing seeing Chris involved and even better, seeing him caring about the details, 'cause at the end of the day, the wedding is a celebration of their love 🙂‍↕️

Monica, so traditionally Indian garments (other that sarees) are custom made, there are artisans all over the country waiting to customize the outfit. So its common practice for Indian brides to pick a design and get it tailored for their body. These outfits also takes months to make, so it doesn't make sense for designers to make every shape and size. You look gorgeous in every outfit btw!

I think it would make much more sense for them to have a few different sizes- like what would fit 0-6, 8-14, 14-20, etc. it’s extremely difficult to envision what an outfit is going to feel like just by laying it on yourself.

Other options could be carrying plain colored blouses in multiple sizes and to have wrap around lehngas that would fit any waist.

@@cg9059 I think this would be possible if Indian clothes were made by machines. Unfortunately, there are hundreds of hours (if not more) put into crafting a single outfit, it just wouldn't be economical for them to make a piece that doesn't sell. Indian artisans have been doing couture for centuries, it can't change all of a sudden. This. Is. NOT. Fast. Fashion.

Even in the US doing bridal shopping at American bridal stores, you won't find 10 samples of a dress no matter how popular. They will have two try on sizes on a dress, an 8 which in bridal is a 4 or 6 and and 18 which is a 14 or 16 and that's it. Majority of people have to either be uncomfortably clipped in or are told to envision how the dress will look on them if they are larger than the sample. There simply isn't room to house all those dresses in each size, and buying a sample means, it will either have to be trashed or sold for dirt cheap at the end of its life, so its not making the shop money to buy a whole bunch of these to accomodate all sizes.

@ most western wedding outfits also have their patchwork embroidery made in sweatshops. We need to be vocal for slow fashion and inclusivity will follow soon. The demand-supply culture for hand made clothes is what i have a problem with. Obviously we need size inclusivity, it means one needs to wait for a week for the karegar to handcraft it, i don't think its a big ask. We can't judge traditional hand made clothes with the same lens that we judge fast fashion with. I'm so happy to see Monica share her spotlight with traditional artisans making clothes!

As a curvy girl myself, i feel seen and represented watching your videos. Seeing you being confident in your own skin, body makes me feel confident 🥹 We are always used to see S or XS side models for wedding collection lehangas, bust size tops has been my problem for a long time, as you said most of the wedding attires are just Bra with a skirt. Those are definitely not for curvy girls !!

0:58 I agree I love a dark red or blue colour on me it REALLY compliments my skin. Most of my friends wore a pastel or light shade saree on our farewell whereas I went for a red wine colour and the way I stood out omg I loved it sooo damnn much. I love how you're looking for a more traditional lehenga than those pastels and others. It's not like they look bad or anything they are really great but nothing can beat the look of a traditional red/marron wedding lehenga

Wedding shopping can be so overwhelming! You might have an image in your head about how you want to look but you can’t find that freaking dress/colour/style and size/fit is whole another story…I went through this in 2013 and if I had option to do things differently then it would be keeping it simple and only spending on re-wearable wedding clothes since I did decided to donate my wedding clothes in India. It is a very special day, so enjoy the process (but the day feels like a blur)…all the best!

Tbh to look good in heavy Indian attire u have to be in a certain weight range, and if u have heavy bust size then it’s done for you. I too struggle with the fitting of designer blouses, like come on every girl is not a model 🤷🏻‍♀️

I really hoped you would have a south indian wedding. They wear saree on their wedding while saree is draped it looks good on every size, no hassle like lehenga fitting or not fitting and they have so many Kanjivaram silk sarees in chennai, bangalore.But these lehengas are so good you'll look so pretty.
