Very well said. I truly believe that this gentleman needs to have his own channel. To be honest, I like Jeff’s videos better than Kyle’s. Sure Kyle’s knives are amazing, and are incredible “Art” knives, and while Jeff’s knives are of a high level, they are still knives that one could use on a daily basis. Knives are to be used, not put away in some drawer.

The true secret is in how those billets get oriented. Those patterns are 1 major component of the blades value.

Yeah this family really looks like they were born into the lap of luxury. Open garage. Having to complete the finish process for their knives in the kitchen sink. That's how true craftsmanship comes about. Just born rich with no skills, planning or sacrifice, obviously.

When the photo and video popped up on the feed the other day I knew immediately that it was a "Dad Royer" knife" and made sure to wait until tonight to watch. Saturday night with a glass of good bourbon and a homemade Chocolate chip cookie & a new "Dad Royer" video. Only thing that would have made it better would have been if my granddaughter was here to watch with me.

I have a collection of patterned forged kitchen knives. They are functional as well as beautiful to look at. It is interesting to watch how such a blades is forged. The knowledge of the forging and tempering are one thing but the ability to repeat as much as is possible the blades pattern just amazes me.

Have you tried using a cup grinding stone in your grinder to remove the scale? I have found that a 24 grit stone makes quick work of it. The stones last so much longer that they are much cheaper in the long run compared to regular grinding wheels.
