4wd/247 you 100% have to upgrade the intercooler to a big top mount or even better a front mount, the factory intercooler isn’t big enough for the load these engines are under especially with lots of additional weight. And get a good tune with potentially a ZL30 turbo upgrade. I recommend Evolution running. There is lots of info on these engines to make them unstoppable just need to weed through all the dodgy crap. A bigger IC and a good tune will completely change it for the better.

Great videos I had a few patrols 4.2 leaf Ute 500 Thousand kms before I parted with it. Then the daily wagon 3.0lcrd Patrol with steinbauer, 3inch beau exhaust, code reader etc, hpd cooler, catch can and a 20Pound diesel smart boost actuator redarc guages to keep A check Sold it at 250 thousand kms and wish we kept it and did a chop. great vehicle we did do a engine early on due to mechanic not re fitting the oil filter spigot bush it did a turbo from unfiltered oil dumped oil in and cracked a head or so we where told. Nissan replaced it all no worries and it was so good on fuel after the engine change and dyno now we have a y62 and a stroked coil td gu Ute 💪🏽 mild boost 24pound 14mm plunger 310 Fly wheel power

Really surprised the mechanic failed to mention you can install a tilex kit to delete the factory boost solenoid, also should of mentioned blocking the egr and installing a provent catch can is the best thing you can do to a common rail 3L, if you havnt already I would be putting a tillex valve on it

The "explanation" about the ZD30 grenade was so vague it didn't even mention the CRD upgrade, which pretty much eliminated the early problems. The mid-life DI upgrades were alluded to but not explained either. No mention of terrible boost, air, and resultant overfuelling causing piston melt either. The CRD is pretty good if not abused but can benefit from a good exhaust, catch can, better intercooler, and a tune.

Here’s one thing that I have always thought is a massive item that dealerships are risking getting a law suit with if a customer buy a new vehicle from them. They say that they will have set price services and this will be for the whole time of the original owner and people could have that vehicle for over 5 years some customers. The most important thing is tyre’s have a road life of 5 years and what I mean by that is every tyre sold in Australia has to have the date it was made and it’s a 4 digit number. The date is on both sides of the tyre and it’s in a square and the first two numbers are the month and the second two are the year and I have looked at family and friends cars that have had their vehicle from new and haven’t had their spare tyre replaced when it’s passed five years of the tyres date. It’s a known thing all through the tyre manufacturing industry that if you have a tyre over five years old and you put it on your car it can delaminate without warning and completely fall apart and if that happens at 100 kmh you could be killed. Would be interesting if you could ask dealerships why they don’t change the spare tyre when it’s passed five years old as this should definitely be a serviceable item.

Help me out here. If a catch can is so important on a modern diesel car and they’re relatively inexpensive to fit versus incredibly expensive to repair the damage when water ruins an engine…… Then why wouldn’t a manufacturer put one on there from factory? Especially considering the length of warranties they give out these days. Toyota for example are giving out 5 year unlimited kilometre warranties and 7 on engines and drive trains if you keep using Toyota for scheduled maintenance. Why would Toyota take a risk of wearing that bill if it was such a high concern?
