Making a 3D Printed Humanoid Robot | Developed by Ryan Gross

The designs for this have been created by myself, in the video I outline each arm I constructed and tested. The first three arm designs each failed to meet the standards for the goals I was attempting to achieve. This resulted in having to scrap the designs and move on to other ideas and concepts. The last arm design is the latest up to date and by far the most functional, however, there is still room for improvement. My primary objective is to make this arm available for anyone around the world to make and test with. The arm uses all 'off the shelf' materials which are widely available for an exceptionally low cost, putting the total price of the arm at $310. I have also tried to make assembling the arm very simple and straight forward, but I will post a video on assembly soon.
I hope that by publishing this I can gain some support to continue my research, at this point I am mainly looking for funding and sponsorships to keep designing so if you would like to contribute to the project please contact me, and of course if you have any questions please leave a comment.

Now this is extremely cool. The design of the hand is brilliant. Seems to have a really life-like motion despite minimal servos and looks pretty strong. Overall, the design of the arm is great. Really getting the important DOF in there.

Hi! I’m a high functioning Quadriplegic with very limited arm movement and no hand or finger function I’m on IV Treatments that require dexterity that I do not have. What I would need is a three “finger” robotic “hand” that would grip and release items that are as small as 1/4” in diameter. These “hands” do not need to be fancy at all, just functional.
