No helium? No problem! The ever-impressive Natalie Saunders from The Balloon Room joins us again in the BMTV studio to showcase one of her trademark large-scale designs, but this time it's a little bit different - it's on the ceiling!
Join us as Natalie shows Greg her method to create stunning ceiling fills without helium that are guaranteed to give any occasion a bit of extra 'lift' by ingeniously using magnets, fishing line and Qualatex QuickLinks to great effect. Not only that, but Greg even gets stuck in too!

just found this video... awesome work! quick question.... how do you figure how many balloons you will need to cover a corporate room? like any math needed?

The information below may help! :) How Many Balloons for Helium Ceiling? Calculate the square feet of ceiling (width x length), and divide this by the square feet covered by each balloon. 11” balloon = .66 sq. ft. (613cm2) covered by each balloon 16” balloon = 1.4 sq. ft. (1301cm2) covered by each balloon 3’ balloon = 7 sq. ft. (.65m2) covered by each balloon Example: 10 ft. (3.05m) x 10 ft. = 100 sq. ft. (9.3m2) divided by .66 (for 11” balloons) = 152 balloons

Looks great. I wondered what you'd use to attached to a domestic ceiling? Command hooks perhaps? I'll need to play with those as I'm not sure what damage, if any, they'd do. As I'm writing, I think they were actually mentioned... Quick-link Stinger, Probe, Needle, Rod.

I used large command hooks on my ceiling. I’m happy to say there was absolutely no damage. 🙂🙂

I would create a 1 sq meter section and use a job cost form for that. Then times it by the area you need covered.

Hi how were you able to attach the balloons to the fishing line?

Hi there, around the base of the balloons that Natalie has created she wraps the fishing line around the balloons in a cross/figure of eight motion so that it ties the balloons together and then used this to connect it to the magents on the ceiling, but you could also use command hooks for this.

At parties we didn’t use helium except at my birthdays I used to fool everyone by stick the balloons on the ceiling and it’s just fall in them when they took the string, but then I feel for it. 😂
