Again, thanks for the video, they help a lot. Last time I tried blacksmithing, it was just a teenager with barely any experience with this beating up a 16 gauge sheet of steel for five hours.

„Nothing special about welding a knight‘s helmet“ Seems legit 😅 Nice work.

A tip for saving your hand while dishing, griping the piece with a pair of vice grips really helps. If it bites into the steel then cut a little big in the best grip position that can be cut off later

Thanks! I'll check this method out sounds promising

@@stacho-v1n very good! i had learned it through much trial and error. but wheni used the grips, my hand and wrist no longer ached after dishing.

@@stacho-v1n that is better than working more than thinking. I thought quite a bit on how to make my first welded helmet, a bascinet. Being more “educated” on bascinets now i see a lot of mistakes such as it sitting too low on the head. So I want to make a new one even if is pretty alright. If you want to look at it i have an amount called peasant.at.arms or something like that on Instagram.

Impressive! It might be safer if you roll the edge in the back, but still, very nice work!
@stacho-v1n3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Rolled edge on bascinets ? Haven't heard of it , but the back of the helmet is supposed to sit high on the client's head so it won't be a problem.
@MattsGreatHall3 жыл бұрын
@@stacho-v1n No, you're right. A rolled edge would look strange. I don't know what I was thinking. Looking forward to any more armour that you make!
