@@jaydiggsmusic Hi there Jay I DIGGs both of your 'Making A Beat Like It's 1995 clips' 👍 If I had to pick just 1 FAVORITE hit from the mid 90s, it has to be 'Opposites Attract' by Paula Abdul & ScatCat. That was whack back then. I also enjoyed dancing around to both of Bobby Brown"s songs 'Every Little Step I Take' and 'My Prerogative' ☺

Man, being 44 now and being 15 in 1995. This exactly how music sounded in r&b and especially from New York, vibe wise. We used to do exactly what you did to put composition/ production together. Sample banging drums, find a dope ass sample phrase loop. Then layer with synths. 👌🏾 even though west coast stuff sounded different. We did the same process. Keep these videos coming bro.

That bridge sounds like the Living Single theme. I mean that in the best way possible. You really captured the 90’s sound here. Check out Onra’s throw em up mixes. He specifically made 3 or 4 different mixtapes of music released around this time. It was towards the tail end of the new jack swing era. You should do more on this genre and on this specific sound. I listen to those mixes religiously because to me they capture the essence of the “90s sound”. Don’t mean to rant but I hope you realize there’s a lot of fans of this sound. Especially when it sounds authentic.

I was born in 1997, so I’d love to hear like an updated version of this one a la Life After Death by Biggie, one of my favorite albums of the 90’s! Then, I’d love a Y2K Aaliyah or Fanmail-era TLC one with so much Timbo and Darkchild influence! I think you’d kill that, Jay! Heard someone say 2005, and I’d be good with that one too!

I love how much work you put into this videos. I dont know your history but you are very talented and I hope you can live from making music. You really deserve it!This is what you should do. You could easily compete with Teddy Riley or the Trackmasters with your beats. I'm a big fan! If I ever could be a music producer I wanted to be same good as you! I wish you all the best for the future and success in the music industry! I didnt know you but now I will keep your name in my records. Keep on doing what you do! You're a genius! It’s the MPC 60 The sound of the Akai submerge sound making a heavy thick 32khz frequency solid state. Your setup is dope my man respects all Sixty Owners. Musicianship here intelligent, and having an Akai vintage in really great shape allows the flexibility. you don't need a sync box with MPC60! it's got SMPTE built in! stripe a track to tape, and it'll chase no problem. I feel you on not wanting to have to lay the bassline in live, though. very citypop vibes on this one, especially with the older drums. (which means a futurefunk remix as a bonus.)
