​@@9767Musicnot a normal square wave but a phase modulated one. if you sum all other kicks and you make sure it pushes past +1 and -1 (or whatever the margins really are) so it will clip to a phasemod square wave, and you multiply that by any amount >=1 it will always clip back to itself again. (i'm also horrible at putting things into words but you're essentially right, it's just not a normal square wave because that would mean it has equal length peaks and troughs)

that just means you have to double the volume (i.e. play it +6dB), but then since you're normalizing all the kicks back down to fit in the sample's amplitude scale it's a null operation
