Since I started making lures, I told people, "Nate Marling is my bait making mentor...he just doesn't know it yet." I guess I can't do that anymore... 😂 I meant every word of that testimonial!

In fairness, it's super common for fish, especially marine fish, to swap sexes at least once in their lifetime -- or to start out without a sex entirely Nature is weird /shrug

I bought the Fish With Your Masterpiece course.... I don't really even fish anymore. I've never made a lure. Never even attempted it... But I enjoy these videos and I like how Nate explains the things he's doing. Just supporting a guy who loves what he does and put a ton of effort into teaching others was worth it. Maybe one day I'll make a lure.... 😂

I's the micro Kok that' ya that ya don't want. Women married to a micro Koks say Kok size doesn't matter. I refer to these ladies as never had their feet pointed at the ceiling. Small Koks say they more anal but is it worth it? Kinda like winning a metal at the Special Olympics...

Another Gem Nate, insane paint job but i think its time for another challenge. Make a backwards (line tie at tail, rear hook hanger at nose) glidebait using a baitfish of your choosing. If you could make that official that would seal your title as Master Bait maker

Great videos! Here's a tip. Use a sharp blade to smooth the edge of the plastic. For example, take the blade out of a plane. Hold securely with the flat edge on the plastic. Then pull backwards. You can get the plastic sides almost clear without sanding.

You can get fine grit sandpaper grits for your 1x30 belt sander. It would make sanding the lips much faster. You may need to make non-scratch platform so the lip does not get damaged.

For glue ups instead of glue stick, try laying down blue tape on the faces your gluing together, then bind those with thin CA glue. It gives you good adhesion, and there’s no risk of damaging the wood when you peel off the blue tape
@rosemaryabbott10202 ай бұрын
You answered a question I was thinking about at the moment I was thinking it. That is weird. I work with polymer clay and after I sand it to 1500 grit I polish it to a shiny shine by putting 6 3” round pieces of blue jean material on my Dremel flex shaft and polish it at high speed. It doesn’t melt or warp anything. Meanwhile, you are making some of the best looking lures I’ve ever seen. They’re beautiful! Of course I want to see you fish with this one when the fish are biting.

You certainly can heat poly carbonate up and bend it but also slightly pull while bending otherwise you'll get some ridges in the infold. You can also polish the bills by using a dremel and a soft white polishing wheel thingy. Works great!

Hi Nate. I love the videos. I've been since watching pretty close to your beginning. I don't often comment because I watch KZbin mostly on my TV and I can't comment on that app. But I just wanted to say thanks for the great videos. You do make it look easy. I have wanted to start. But I don't have any equipment yet. My income is limited because I am disabled. But someday I hope I can somehow afford to get equipment. I look for used stuff on Facebook marketplace all the time. But when the good deals come up, I never seem to have the spare money. And I hope to one day to become a member. I am not complaining in any way about the price. It is a steal for what is included. And I wish you only the best in your sales. But for right now it is beyond me. I wish you and your family a very happy Thanksgiving. God bless.

U may not see this but I hope u do but my 3 year old son loves watching your videos. every night before bed he asks to watch the fish maker. (He thinks u make fish). I’ve watched all your videos and thought of a cool idea for a lure for next time u go salt water fishing. How About a baby stingray with a jointed tail would be a cool build and paint scheme.

A thing you can try, instead of direct raw dog glue wood to wood, what I’ve done doing similar things, I put painters tape on each surface, then apply the glue. That way, you’re only only prying apart painters tape and not bonded wood. Doubt I explained that properly, but it’s made my life much easier!
@Mrdoodiehead0072 ай бұрын
You explained it fine, I get it. When I have trouble separating pieces I just hit it with a heat gun a little and it softens the glue up nice . Good tip tho 👍

I think you should take a trip to a fish store and just take some decent pictures of the fish, and try to make as many as you can over the winter. I don't mean like a PetSmart or Petco, but what we in the biz call a 'Local Fish Store'. One I recently got and am really enjoying is the Green-line Lizard Tetra. Body shape would make a great mid-water jerkbait or top-water walker.

A trick I’ve used in the past is put a pice of blue tape over the parts you want stuck together and a drop or two of CA on the tape . That holds way better than any two sided tape and it’s not to difficult to get back apart.
