Beautiful. It was amazing to see how skillful you are. I just got a wheel. Haven't thrown anything yet.

Thank you! its interesting to start something new, dont worry about your skills, they will come when you do, and faster than you can imagine. I must have a video somewhere of my first time behind the wheel, its funny, I had no idea what to do and how to do. I just sat behind the wheel and took a ball of clay, Then as nothing came out, I started to search how to throw ;)

Wow it's incredibly gorgeous. I'm a new Potter, a hand builder and I admire your skill..I can't imagine achieving that level of expertise. I am so new in fact, that I just glazed my first load of stoneware and haven't fired it yet. It will be a first experience for me.
@klementi-art Жыл бұрын
Its a very interesting path you have in front of you. A lot of joy. Potters are most happy people you know - there is so much joy and happiness after every firing and the joy of making something with your hands even when you dont know eactly how it will turn out from firing. I still remember the first pots I made some 5 years ago. Skills come with every piece you make, dont worry, just do.

This is a very beautiful box. You can tell right away that all the craftsmanship and soul went into it, which means it is priceless. I always wondered what it was covered with, what made it shine like icing on a bun.

I love that black clay!!! It reminds me of the Japanese black stoneware clay.
@klementi-art Жыл бұрын
Indeed. And that black clay is the best fit with this glaze. The dark clay brings out the beauty of the glaze. I have made my own clay mix as not all clays work with this glaze.

Just perfection. I'd love to be able to do that. What kind of clay is that? I have a Black clay 266, and it's red when greenware.
@klementi-art Жыл бұрын
Thank you Judy. The clay I mix and wedge from 2 different clay bodies. I have no experience with 266.It seems to to fire to quite interesting colour. Seems to be quite similar to one black clay I have tested, but that one did not work with several glazes. German made Goerg & Schneider 373 and 371 are quite similar to my mix but slightly lighter grey.

Hi. Thank you, a lot 😊 I don’t have a shop ready yet. The last few years I have worked to develop my skills and styles. I have the web shop in development and hopefully it will be, but there is still a lot of work to be done to prepare for it. I will give hints and announcements on my web and social media, once the time is right.

What clay body is this? It looks like white stoneware when you are throwing it, but the finished color is that of red or chocolate clay body.
@klementi-art Жыл бұрын
Hi Sara. It's and anthracite black stoneware that I use. I actually wedge two different clays together to have nice fit with this glaze I use.

How do you begin i want to learn. But i want to learn from someone like you
@klementi-art8 ай бұрын
I’m flattered. How can I teach you? I’m on the other side of the globe. But best teacher is doing, just sit behind the wheel and start doing - you’ll learn from every piece you make. Start from simple and small forms, then go bigger and more complicated when the simple ones feel comfortable. I wish you good luck and may your hands be filled with clay and your heart with imagination.

John Britt has a snowflake crackle glaze he shares in his book Mid-range glazes. Of course it will depend on you to do tests on your clay body (or glaze) to adjust the fit if needed. Check out his you tube videos as well. They are all filled with glaze chemistry information!

Thank you Jean! Good to know he has a similar glaze. I am aware of John Britt, but I'm just starting with making my own glazes and I'm working my way there slowly. He really is very generous with his knowledge.
